Comments on: RhinoSkin Introduces Cases for Visor Edge

RhinoSkin has introduced four new cases designed specifically for the Handspring Visor Edge. These are Titanium and Aluminum Sliders and Molded Hardcases, similar to the ones just released for the m500 series. The Aluminum Molded Slider and Aluminum Molded Hardcase for the Edge cost $50. The Titanium versions of these two will retail for $100.

The edge has been a flop in the marketplace. Is there really an audience for this?

Money go down the hole....flush. A PDA MADE of titanium would be better. Maybe rhinoskin should start manuf. replacement body cases.

If this design is patented, it's not by Rhinoskin, or at least it shouldn't be. The Angel case by Okmik (?) for the Palm III was around a long time before the Rhino slder cases, and used exactly the same design, folding the front cover under the bottom on rails. I don't know what happened to Okmik, but his was one of the first alluminium cases for any Palm, and he should come out of hiding and sue the pants off of Rhino!

I think they are thinking that somebody who was willing to pay $400 (originally) for a PDA would also be likely to pay $100 for a case for it. I'm sure a lot of say S320 owners, who only paid $170 for their pda, would balk at paying $100 for a top Rhinoskin. (Although the $50 aluminum one is plausible.)

isn't the point of the edge that it has a built-in aluminum lid for slimness? why add the bulk?

I agree...I own a visor edge and the case is very damn flimbsy so I put it in a soft case anyway...but it does do the duty...

I've had a Rhinoskin for two years. At $100 it saved my Palm many many times. And it allowed me to travel confidently with it. Excellent product overall. Yes, it's bulky and sometimes people think it looks a bit funny, but I swear by it. It's not a second-rate rubber container that will stop a few scratches --- it's a serious titanium piece of armour! (No I don't have shares, I'm just very grateful I haven't had to repair my PDAs despite much "intense" treatment).

Now I have a Handera and it lives inside my 3x Rhinoskin case. Works quite well as it fits fine and the stylus is accessible. But Handera users would benefit from a dedicated Rhinoskin case, since the current 3x case doesn't let you use the side buttons. This means voice-recording is too difficult to be worthwhile, as well as other negative implications.
