Directional Pad

Moosecat @ 12/7/2001 9:18:39 AM #
I'm intrigued, even though I already have a PPK ... It looks like it has a directional pad, which reminds me of something on my Palm wishlist: a driver that would permit the use of arrow keys (or a directional pad like this one) to control the selection of items on screen, so the stylus is rarely or never necessary when using the keyboard.

I tried LapTopHack, but found it to be cumbersome... It made me feel like I was using a TRS-80 or something.

It would be nice if keyboard makers would package such an app.

The new PPK driver has a pointer that is controlled by the cursor keys. It has 3-4 new useful features that make life with the PPK so much easier. Coupled with LapTopHack, you can pretty much never touch the stylus if you want to.

It's your lucky day. The latest version of the Stowaway (PPK) driver allows the arrow keys to control the cursor. Go to www.thinkoutside.com and check it out.

Thanks Ed!, I've been looking for an on-screen mouse pointer like this, works great and does not slow the system down like pointer hack did (at least on my machine).

Get the latest driver for your PPK - it allows the arrow keys to be used to drive a pointer around the screen in much the same way a mouse does.

..but how to position it?

I.M. Anonymous @ 12/7/2001 9:45:11 AM #
Should be difficult to see what you type with the Palm flat on the table.

if you type the way you should, you should never have to see it

Can PIC review this?

Ed, this thing is intruiging since it's so portable, but I'm curious how usable it is. Any chance they'll send you one to review?
