Comments on: Write Professional Notes with BugMe! Office

Electric Pocket has released BugMe! Office, a new version of the note-taking and reminder alarm application that includes a set of 50 templates to help professionals enhance the style and impact of their handwritten notes and reminders. Once a template is selected and the note is handwritten directly on the handheld's screen, the user can set a timed alarm that will display the correct message. Users can share their notes with co-workers via infrared. It costs $30.

I agree with you that BugMe is expensive. I test drove the program a while ago when I switched to a color device and had to leave DiddleBug behind. It is a robust program but not only is it high price but it has a huge footprint and that datafile gets to be pretty big with just a few notes. The idea of having a notetaking program take up 300k+ of memory seemed to be overboard so I have decided to use the built-in Notepad for my notetaking needs. Thank God for options.

Hmmm. templates do nothing more than take up precious screen real estate. The latest beta of diddlebug is completely stable, color-compliant (though not color itself), allows for robust alarms, has a screen capture, is able to automatically send text to the clipboard, datebook, memopad, addressbook, and a variety of 3rd party apps, and, oh yeah, is still 100% free.

About the only thing it lacks is the ability to hook into email & send jpegs, ala the messenger side of bugme. Oh, and it lacks garfield and urgent! templates. If those are worht $30 to you, go get bugme, but for the rest of us, it's a no-brainer.

Agree 100%. The folks at ElectricPocket should get real! I haven't used BugMe! in months because it doesn't work properly on my N760C. They always seem to be coming out with one goofy new feature after another. Why don't they work on the basics... like making your software work on the existing handhelds that already exist?!?!? DiddleBug is very stable and works just fine for note reminders. Templates?!?! Who cares???

I can understand that some developers would like to be as filthy rich as Bill Gates. But $30 for this little program? If all apps were this expensive, I'd toss my Visor out the window and revert to a real notepad.

Thirty bucks is a little stiff for a simple note taking program! What happened to the shareware days? Everybody now wants a buck!

If you think that $30 is too much, then try out NoteBook by Bahsoft. Its half the price,
supports color, alarms and beaming notes to other PDAs.

It supports larger than screen notes and you can re-edit text once it's been laid down. BugMe
doesn't do either one of those. Within the next couple of weeks, it will even be able to download
JPEGs from the desktop so that you can draw on them on the Palm.

NoteBook already is outselling BugMe on Handango (its somewhere around 18th best selling out of
10000+ apps).
