Comments on: Quickies: Wozniak, T-Series Bug, Monopoly, and More

Steve Wozniak, co-creator of the Apple, has come out of retirement to lead a company that's gong to make products that make use of GPS and wireless technologies. At this point, it's not clear what the company, called Wheels of Zeus, will be developing. -Ed

The "auto shut off" patch on Sony's Support site reported on earlier this week isn't really that. It's actually a fix for a bug that sometimes prevents the T415 or T615C for connecting to another handheld via infrared. Visit Sony's Support page then click on "Updates" for the specific model. -nXt

Zeus?!

"Wheels of Zeus" almost sounds like a fancier name for a Segway!

What is interesting about Woz is his timing. He was the first to come out with a universal remote -- it was revolutionary at the time, and was swiftly crushed by Asian manufacturers (the speed at which they accomplished that was actually breathtaking; they set a new record!).

It will be interesting to see what he develops this time and if it is "Asian-proof."

Danger too

I thought I saw at CES that Steve was also involved in the new device/handheld/comunicator from Danger

For those who can get to the NY Times site, there's a little more detail.

"Wheels Of Zeus" = "WOZ"

It looks like he has joined up with the Danger team. Maybe he is going to rename the company WOZ. It mentions in the press release that he is known as WOZ around the company.

Monopoly

I played with the beta of Monopoly. It is a great game. I can't wait for it to come out.

Let's hope that Monopoly is a better implementation than Scrabble is. I don't know if Scrabble has been updated, but in the version I have, when you play the computer, the words it produces are often gibberish, and pure nonsense. Since Monopoly does not require a dictionary though, I am sure that it has to be somewhat better.

handmark wordsmith

huggy @ 1/24/2002 11:04:12 AM #
I went to the handmark site... there's a "wordsmith pro" in there that looks exactly like the blue nomad wordsmith. Can anyone explain to me what's going on? At blue nomad's they still sell their wordsmith... is that the same product or what?

Yes, it's the same. Handmark is selling several programs in shrink-wrap that can be found at CompUSA and the like. I would guess this is version 2.0, and buying it in the package would allow you to get a free download upgrade to 2.1? At least, that's what I would expect. Anyone with experience here?
