Clie price drop can mean only one thing...

I.M. Anonymous @ 2/4/2002 8:47:21 AM #

Sony is ready to rollout a replacement for the aging T615. (It was getting a little long in the tooth for a Sony product anyways)

What the hell are you talking about?? Do you mean the 415?? The T615C just came out!

While I think they should redesign the buttons and use the same reflective lighting as the N7xx series, it is the *best* PDA out there!

I think he was using irony, silly.

It's a joke! This used to be a fun, happy place for happy little geeks to romp and play. Now we're starting to take ourselved a little too seriously.

It means they made a mistake in their ad. The website for compusa now shows they are selling it for $399

That's not what the website said about an hour ago. The price was 379 and change. It's been put back up to 399.

It'd be a shock to the CompUSA I frequent: they are sold out of the T615C!

BTW, SonyStyle in NYC (Madison & 55/56th) says they will carry the Royal Blue T615C.

I'm convinced that CompUSA makes sure it has low stock on items it puts on its weekly sales. They just want to get people into the store.

Usually Sony has pretty tight controls on advertised prices and vendors who violate the policy usually suffer. Since it was basically a 5% discount maybe it was temporary and Sony let it go. Either that or they got wind of it and made them change.

Sony cannot legally make any comments or take any actions to try to control the price CompUSA or anyone else charges.

Panasonic lost a BIG lawsuit over this back about 8 years and had to pay everyone who bought a Panasonic TV cash in the class action settlement.

If they want the selling price to stay at $399 they have to offer rebates, premiums (like the Memory Sticks they were giving away) or charge like...$398 wholesale and hold down availability.

That book is needed!

I've only seen old books for programming in PalmOS (maybe because the library hasn't updated?). This book will be a hot seller.

hopefully they revised a lot. The original version of the book was not that good...

Actually there are more and more books focusing on Palm programming nowadays, and there are quite some books focusing on Palm database programming and Palm networking, too.

compusa prices

I.M. Anonymous @ 2/4/2002 1:33:19 PM #
they discounted their pda's 5% last week. The promotion is over now. That's all.

red tag sale... they happen rarely so don't sit and gawk at the unit then get pissed because the price goes back up the next week.

Hey Ed!

It says you are gonna be around the PalmSource floor. I will be there on the 6th of February, for the open to the public expo. Maybe I will see you there, and we could talk. Also, does PIC have a booth? If not, think about that for next year.

RE: Hey Ed!
Admin @ 2/4/2002 3:34:54 PM #
Unfortunately, no booth this year.

T415 now $217!

mikecane @ 2/4/2002 6:09:15 PM #
CompUSA in NYC, 5th Ave @ 37th St.

No S360 there, but RCS and SonyStyle has it in.

RE: T415 now $217!
I.M. Anonymous @ 2/4/2002 10:56:11 PM #
They'd pretty much have to give me a T415 for free, before I would take it. The screen is so crappy, they would have a hard time convincing me to pay more than $30-$40 for one. Even then, I'd only use it for a remote control and software testing.

LoL ..... funny that your usage of Clie is actually kinda electronical, when I see a Visor, all I can think of is how I can thow it to a far corner, and say "FETCH" so my dog can pick it up. Actually the same goes for PalmPilot and PalmPilot Pro.

I have a defective T615C!!!!

I.M. Anonymous @ 2/4/2002 7:03:25 PM #
I bought one at CompUSA and half the screen is "off color." Off color as in the display looks like it's divided in half left to right. When you look at the display off angle, it is even more noticable. Most noticeable is when using a program that display not pure black across the entire screen, like the game Froggy.

I showed it to a manager and they agreed to exchange the defective unit. Although, since they are all sold out, I'll have to wait a week or two, until they are back in stock. Grrrr.
