It works with all types of wireless connections. riteMail is free while it is still in beta.

I use bugme messenger and quite happy so. I can send pictures and I actually use it as my E-mail client. I don't see where rite really adds something new to BugMe! Martin RE: Comparison?I.M. Anonymous @ 5/27/2002 9:25:35 PM #
I see Ed tomorrow night, i'll mention your appreciation of his application. :-) RE: Comparison?I.M. Anonymous @ 5/28/2002 2:19:46 PM #
Heh, I'm glad people still remember Dinky Pad. Insanely enough, I still use it myself, albeit with the assistance of Depth to put my Palm into 1-bit mode. Ugh, what I wouldn't give for a month with nothing to do except some Palm programming. -Ed RE: Comparison?I.M. Anonymous @ 5/28/2002 2:24:22 PM #
(BTW, that last note is from Ed Keyes, not the Ed who submitted the original article. Sorry for the confusion.) RE: Comparison?I.M. Anonymous @ 5/29/2002 12:05:31 AM #
Ed, to tell you the truth, I've been thinking of contacting you to ask for access to the source to update DinkyPad and polish the UI. Then I remember that I too have a thesis to finish...

I like the concept, but it has some bugs to work out. I have created some complex drawings (one of SpongeBob for my daughter and another that she did), but they failed to deliver. I got this message instead "your message (SpongeBob Squarepants) can't be delivered by riteMail service" I sent several simple drawings that were not colored on and they delivered. I drew a picture of my daughter sleeping on the pillow and the app crashed and lost the picture (bummer). Is there a size limit on the Palm? Is the complex drawings shown on their website on available to be created on the PC? I know a lot of people would be hot if they spent a lot of time drawing on this app only to lose everything or not have it delivered as promised. I sent the error messages to riteMail as their auto-reply asked. Carl Brooks

I would guess it is the built-in copy protection of the software. It used picture recognition technology to determine that you were drawing a copyrighted character and then deleted the image. If you would have drawn a Picture of Mickey Mouse, Michael Eisner would have already sent a troop of Lawyers to your house. :) Visit us at www.tdscomputer.com RE: Kewl app with some work to dogodschoice @ 6/1/2002 6:47:51 PM #
Update: I reported the failed delivery to ritemail and the corrected the code and sent it to me. Problem solved. That's customer service.

We're all still waiting for an explaination for the sellout "advertorial" from Saturday. RE: Explaination for the weekend fiasco?
Or we could all just be waiting for people to take things in stride and stop getting hot and bothered by things that really don't matter. I think the EXPLANATION (notice that I can spell!) is that Ed thought it was worth mentioning. If you don't think so... don't read it! Lets keep these comments to the proper article, exactly what does this have to do with an e-mail program? Cheers! (Or was that chere's...) RE: Explaination for the weekend fiasco?I.M. Anonymous @ 5/27/2002 7:21:59 PM #
Why should he "get over it"? I'd like to here an explanation as well. I love that these days, if you want someone to ignore impropriaty, you accuse them of being too obsessed with it. Get over the "get over it" defense. RE: Explaination for the weekend fiasco?I.M. Anonymous @ 5/27/2002 9:15:04 PM #
There is an appropriate place to post comments on this story and it is not here. Please post your comments in the proper place. BTW: you almost make it sound like Ed owes you something. How much do you pay for this site anyway? RE: Explaination for the weekend fiasco?
Doesn't exactly have to get over it... though it is a bit silly don't you think?
But if he/she wants to post (thank you for the previous post BTW) please post where it applies. We don't need to flood PIC with posts about alleged advertising. -Biff K

This would be interesting if it could be used to create a "Digital Signature" on the tail end of a real Email. Maybe if used in conjunction with something like PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) it could be eventually used to verify the sender of the Email. Just a thought.
RE: Use for Signatures on regular Emails?I.M. Anonymous @ 5/27/2002 7:17:04 PM #
and you want to send everyone how your signature looks like? its just a jpeg and it doesnt make it any secure.

... you need a special program (included) to view any messages (drawings) on a PC which were created in this plam app. I was hoping to see an .gif image attached to the e-mail, but not... too bad... not very useful in my opinion. RE: too bad...I.M. Anonymous @ 5/27/2002 11:58:16 AM #
it's actually not included... at least i can't find it... this is what I recived on my Outlook Express on PC: "This message is in riteMail format and should be opened in riteMail application. Please close this message, switch to the riteMail application to view it there. If you haven't already installed the application, you may get it from riteMail downloads page. riteMail service." no drawings at all RE: too bad...I.M. Anonymous @ 5/27/2002 9:18:46 PM #
Well, you wouldn't get a GIF because i believe it uses a vector format. I don't suppose it uses a standard vector format instead of a proprietary one.

By the way, speaking of scrolling, anyone remember Ed Keyes' DinkyPad? It remains the best notepad ever on the Palm platform. Too bad he stopped supporting it right before color came along...
