Samsung has renewed its license of the Palm operating system. Under the terms of a new agreement, Samsung will continue to develop and market smart phones based on the Palm OS through 2005. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Samsung will release two new Palm OS smartphones in the near future, the SPH-i330 and SPH-i500. -PR

Falch.net updated its DeveloperStudio to version 2.7, which will give Palm OS developers the ability to create software optimized for Palm OS 5. The new version also gives developers the opportunity to test apps on the Palm OS Simulator, which will let them compile ARM code as a native Windows DLL. -PR

To the critic's critic. So an error should be ignored? There was nothing rude about the first comment.

Both Handango and PalmGear list it as Freeware. If it isn't free, what is the price?

Treo300SMS not free???

I.M. Anonymous @ 9/27/2002 11:24:38 AM #
Why is this software not free? If I remember correctly when I looked at the Sprint PCS agreement you had to pay for SMS anyway. Not only do you have to pay for each message, but now you don't even get the software for free? Am I missing something?

Yes you are missing something.

The concept of capitalism.

I provide a product or service. You pay money for it. It's really not that complex. Many people have a good grasp of it.

Capitalism also tells companys, that in a repeated game (such as keeping customer satisfied becouse it costs less to keep a customer, than to get a new one) honesty pays in the long term!!!!

If Handspring acts like this it is not a longterm oriented company. Therefore it has not understood the concept of longterm strategy, which is a very capitlistic Issue!!!!

If you want to find a possible Institution that can sell crap and expect customers to still being forced to buy their product, you have to look at the state. There you have to buy (tax) security, which it can't supply in an appropriate way. There you have to buy politics, you don't approve (war on several warplaces).

I think you are confused at who to be mad at. The SMS messages are not free due to the contract that the service provider puts together. So for this you can direct your anger toward Sprint,T-Mobile,whoever is providing service to your treo. As for the software listed in the article, it is a product offered by PDA Apps. So if you want the noted sms software for free you will have to take it up with them.

So I belive that whatever Handspring's shortterm or longterm goals are, they are not of consequence within this thread.

If you have a Nokia phone with a SprintPCS service plan are you mad at Nokia that Sprint charges you for SMS?

Bump Attack upgrade price

rldunn @ 9/27/2002 2:20:50 PM #
According to Iambic's web site, if you purchased Bump Attack v2.0 before July 25, 2002, you have to pay a $10 upgrade fee to get version 2.2. A $10 charge for an incremental upgrade on a 3-month old product?!? Unbelievable!!!

RE: Bump Attack upgrade price
bcombee @ 9/27/2002 9:13:17 PM #
It's a $10 charge for an update that expands the number of tables from 3 to 5. That's 66% more game play, and the upgrade fee seems justified to me.
