Gotta say, it is little nuggets of information like this that bring me back to PIC for my "Daily Dose of Palm OS Info". Thanks. Warez Infocenter? The Ugly Truth @ 8/23/2003 8:18:31 PM #
Sounds like this article is promoting warez. It's a slippery slope and whoever runs this site needs to decide if they really want to support illegal activities. At the very least a disclaimer should be added indicating that using unlicensed Palm software is illegal. RE: Hmm...
The slippery slope fallacy doesn't apply here. Use of any part of the Palm OS ROM on a device other than that for which it was originally licensed is prohibited under any circumstances. This article, then, arguably advocates an illegal act. The illegality is compounded by the fact that Graffiti is a patented property of Xerox Corporation. No disclaimer could shield Palminfocenter.com from legal action, should Xerox attempt such. elo RE: Hmm...
You need to chill. No one is making any money off of this - it just allows people to restore their original grafiti if they own both devices. No one will get sued since you couldn't sue for more than you pay the lawyers for an hour. RE: Hmm...
I need to chill? Please reread my post; no emotion was expressed. As to the issue of exchange of money, none is required for legal action (including lawsuits, though I didn't mention them). The intellectual property discussed here has plenty of value. Of course, the OP was about the legality of this article; I was merely responding with information that might be helpful to some. If you aren't interested, why respond? elo RE: Hmm...Palm_Otaku @ 9/15/2003 9:37:27 PM #
Actually, it sounds like you were responding with some MISinformation: Graffiti is *not* a "patented property of Xerox corporation". "Unistroke" is, and from what I've been able to uncover on the subject, they aren't the same thing. I wish Palm all the best with their appeal. Further, are you certain there is any inpropriety in my copying these files from an OS5 device I own, to an OS5.2 device I own? RE: Hmm...ThunderCracker @ 11/11/2003 5:13:50 PM #
The bottom line: I don't care. Graffiti 2 was killing me. It never should have changed.
Palm III --> Compaq Areo 1550 --> Palm IIIc --> Visor Edge --> Casio EM500 --> Sony T415 --> Compaq 3670 --> Dell Axim x5 Advanced --> Sony SJ20 --> Palm T|E
Is it just me, or does this seem a little bit too easy? I'm starting to actually like G2, so I think I will leave well enough alone. RE: Too Easy?RhinoSteve @ 8/22/2003 6:17:38 AM #
Yes and no.
It shows good systems engineer on the PalmSource side. Pretty much, they just updated the handwriting rec. engine and kept the PRC names the same. Having the contention of PRCs of the same name in RAM and ROM resolve to where the OS runs only the RAM resident PRC goes all the way back to Palm OS 2.0. However, since the Genie is out of the bottle with this now, who knows if Xerox legal will complain that it is too easy for the end user infringement. That is a massive gray zone. But frankly, I'm glad this is so "drop in" so I can make a "T" the way I used to with the old stuff. :)
I had a TT, sold it, and now I have a T2, and I hate Graffitti 2. Anyone know where I can find these 2 files online so I can just hotsync them to the T2? RE: Where can I get those files?
One of the original thread originators posted this link; he stated he'll make this file available for a few days. http://www.tpug.org/SK-/Graffiti1.zip I downloaded the file and virus-checked with Norton; it's OK. If you want to follow the original thread, go here: The Graffiti1.zip link is on page 2 of the thread. RE: Where can I get those files?
Who can try opposite operation? Can we use Graffiti 2 on Tungsten T? Can you send TT2 Graffiti2 PRCs? Regards.. RE: Where can I get those files?
Well, you can do the same thing, by beaming yourself the 'grf2' (graffiti2) files, although if I were you, I'd upgrade the OS on your TT to 5.2! RE: Where can I get those files?
Do you have to rename the grafitti files after you put them on the T2? RE: Where can I get those files?
I have successfully put G2 on my TT as well as write anywhere. For G2 you need the following files: Graffiti 2 Library, size 95K, creator grft For write anywhere you need: GoLCD, size 7K, creator GAny This worked for me, your mileage may vary. RE: Where can I get those files?
Don't forget: GoLCDLib You can also copy the new Prefs application. Hurrah! :-) RE: Where can I get those files?
Hi Is anybody out there using a international (German) version of the T|T2? Please drop me a note (preferable by eMail.) Thanks RE: Where can I get those files?
Hmmm Question... If you copy these files and the Graffiti 1 libs, can you get G1 with write anywhere? Has anyone tired this? - Tere

Who can share Graffiti2 PRCs? I want to try Graffiti2 on my TT. Please send me (belek@flashmail.com) or share it any web site. Thanks. RE: Where can I get those files?budrowilson @ 8/23/2003 11:41:42 AM #
I put Graffiti 1 on my Zire 71 and write anywhere worked just fine. RE: Where can I get those files?Bartman007 @ 8/24/2003 3:11:42 PM #
I would like to do the same as Belek could someone please send me the GoLCD libs. I was able to find the G2 libs using the PalmOSSimulator but the roms provided with that don't have the GoLCD libs. Could someone please send those libs to cannedbart(at)pacbell.net Peace, Has PIC now turned into a warez group? The Ugly Truth @ 8/25/2003 3:58:22 AM #
If you didn't buy a Palm with those files, you aren't entitled to use them unless you have permisson from Palm to do so. Unless PIC supports trading stolen programs, these posts (and arguably this article) should be removed. If you feel it is ok to trade these, files you might as well start hosting PW-Patcher and the Palmpass updates. But no doubt you can find a way to rationalize stealing Palm system files... Give me a break
There's a huge difference between using PW-Patcher to steal software and beaming system files from one Palm to another, especially if you own both. Get over it Peace Out Alan RE: Where can I get those files? The Ugly Truth @ 9/4/2003 2:00:34 AM #
There's a huge difference between using PW-Patcher to steal software and beaming system files from one Palm to another, especially if you own both. Get over it What is the difference between stealing an unlicensed Graffiti application (which Palm no longer will be using do to legal concerns) and stealing an unlicensed application from a company other than Palm? Please enlighten us all, Grasshopper. No doubt one of your law school professors can help you out on this one if you don't know where to start. RE: Where can I get those files?
Geez, guys.. I'd pay a reasonable fee for the files I need to replace G2. Is there any way I can LEGALLY obtain the files I need? G2 is horrible. Absolutely horrible. I already sold my old PDA with G1 so I could get the best, newest (etc.) Palm Tungsten C - which set me back a cool $500. I am awfully upset at Palm for ditching Graffiti 1 for Graffiti 2. I can't say anything good about it at all. Boy, am I angry about this, and I can't see why my $500 shouldn't cover getting a usable Graffiti - if not a heartfelt, teary-eyed apology from Palm. RE: Where can I get those files?
Graffiti 2 on my new Tungsten E is driving me crazy. I attempted to change back to the original graffiti using the SD card technique as listed and everything went great until I tried capitalization. The caps arrow flickers but I cannot get Graffiti to do caps--even when trying in the center area which works for Graffiti 2. Anyone have any success with the switch with a Tungsten E? I cannot tolerate Graffiti 2. I attempted the switch using a SD card and all seemed to be fine except I could not get capitalization. Any help out there for a Tungsten E user? Palm of course says that it can't be done. Help! RE: Where can I get those files?
I am also a tungsten E user suffering with G2. Did you ever find a method to upgrade to G1? Although I have the G1 files When I tried to "install" them, that failed because of some read-only error during hotsync. I suppose I don't want to install them, only to copy them over without installing. How should I get them into Palm memory? I have FileZ. --Steve RE: Where can I get those files?
Try this: (1) load the G1 files onto an SD card (using QuickInstal); (2) copy both files from the SD card to your TE using Filez; and (3) reset your TE.
Cheers.
A hard reset may not be required. You might be able to restore G2 by doing a "warm" (extensions-off/up-button) reset and deleting the added prc files, followed by a regular soft reset. Another potential method to restore G2 is to use a utility such a FileZ to change the type and creatorID of the added prc files (to 'XXXX' maybe), followed by a soft reset. RE: how to restore
The second method works (as noted below), but the first one, a no-notify reset, won't work. The Graffiti system isn't like a system patch or application; it is always activated.
-- Ben Combee, CodeWarrior for Palm OS technical lead Programming help at www.palmoswerks.com
I have a T and a T2. Tried the method but I can't make it work. From the T, FileZ cannot copy the files to a card. If I try to beam, the T2 crashes because the beamed files have a length of zero. Copy protected? But I have no problem copying T2 Grafitti files to card. Be careful! RE: Doesn't work for me
Yeah, the 2 files is copyprotected. How can we beam from ROM actually? Never heard you could do that?
RE: Doesn't work for meTungstenman @ 8/21/2003 4:02:24 PM #
If you go in to the file details, you may be able to uncheck the option for read only
RE: Doesn't work for me
McFile honors the copy protection flag, FileZ does not. I just copied the two files to my expansion card using FileZwith no problem. RE: Doesn't work for me
I was unable to copy the 2 G2 files to my card. Filez would not allow me to un-check the read-only atrribute. Not sure how others are getting this to work (I'm using Filez 5.22, latest version). I was also unable to hotsync the 2 G1 files to my TT2. I ended up putting them on the card and then moving them to RAM. Once I did that, I was able to get G1. WOO HOO!! RE: Doesn't work for me
damn.. filez crashed my Flash.. :/ yes it could be beamed with it so...

I'm glad my new SJ22 has the old Graffiti just because I'm more familiar with it. Is Graffiti 2 that bad? Hard to adapt to? Less effecient or reliable? RE: kinda glad i got an sj22
I use a Zire 71, and have really found Graffiti 2's changes to the "i" character, "t" character and certain punctuation ("!" and "?" in particular) completely exasperating. Try as I might (I've had it for 3-4 months now) I still can't write any of those smoothly, or without referring to the Graffiti help. They should've at least included a simple training tool to help people get acclimated to it, IMHO. RE: kinda glad i got an sj22
I went from Grafitti 2 to the original on my Kyocera 7135. To tell you the truth, it's more or less okay, but I've been using graffiti 1 since 1997. The only downside to G2 is that certain characters (for example the 't') require two keystrokes, so the palm receives an Aside from that, I think G2 might be better in theory, just like the metric system... however, most of us are so used to it, we really don't have any interest in letting it change. In the words of Grandpa Simpson: 'My car gets twenty rods to the hog's head, and that's the way I like things.' RE: kinda glad i got an sj22budrowilson @ 8/21/2003 6:29:28 PM #
Graffiti 2 is much less efficient *especially* if you're used to Graffiti 1. It has a few advantages, but the awkwardness of the "t" and "i" just make it more of a hassle than what it's worth. I just replaced Graffiti 2 with Graffiti 1 on my Zire 71, and I just want to say one thing...THANK YOU to whoever figured this out!!!!! I am very greatful... RE: kinda glad i got an sj22
That's cool, bud (I have a Zire 71 too). Which method did you use to get Graffiti 1 on it? I would like to try it myself :) RE: kinda glad i got an sj22budrowilson @ 8/23/2003 11:43:51 AM #
I installed Graffiti 1 files onto the Zire 71 expansion card. Then I copied the two files from the expansion card to RAM using Teal Mover. Then I did a soft reset. Voila! Request: Which exact G1 files to use?karenramel @ 9/28/2003 8:39:35 PM #
Switching from G2 to G1 on the Zire 71. Please can someone confirm which of the 4 found files are needed? These 4 are from my old old m500 palm handheld. Sharing the love: The responses to the which files inquiry re:M500 4 ROM listed Graffiti Files?
Thank you to everyone INCLUDING the very kind 3 persons I contacted directly about this. With all of your help I learned: Unfortunatly, none of the files on the m500 can help you. The m500 runs OS4.x, and the graffiti system on it is incompatable with the OS5.x of the Zire 71. You will need to install the files from graffiti1.zip to a SD card and then copy them to your Zire. If you don't have an SD card, you can try installing the files from graffiti1.zip to the m500 (which will probably generate an error message of some sort), and then using filez to beam them to the Zire. However, I have not tried this, and it may force you to do a hard reset on the m500, so do a complete Hotsync first, and try it at your own risk! Another kind soul shared: *****If you do not install the files to the SD card (but instead install to RAM from hotsync), it will put the Zire71 into an infinite reset loop. If you would rather use what's on your husband's m500 files, just look for the files that match the two I'm sending you. A few people have had problems, but only when they didn't follow the directions I sent them. : ) Finally the third kind soul also included the crossingover10.zip file with the additional note that it (crosingover10.zip) will enable you to write capital letters where you used to be able to, but where g1 somehow doesn't allow you to. Thanks to everyone! I will try your suggestions and also crossingover. Perhaps crossingover is a smaller application than the application JOT that have? FROM the PALMone.com website RESETTING THE PALM: To perform a Warm reset, do the following: To perform a Hard reset, do the following:
the files listed don't appear on my M515. I checked ROM also. Are there alternate names for different Palms perhaps? I have held off getting the T due to the change in graffiti (though I'll probably give in when the T2 comes out. RE: can't find the graffiti files
hmmm - will this work with graffiti from pre-os 5 devices? anybody know? RE: can't find the graffiti files
"I have held off getting the T due to the change in graffiti (though I'll probably give in when the T2 comes out." T has the standard Graffiti, the one you have on your M515. T2 has Graffiti 2. RE: can't find the graffiti files
I meant T2- I tried it recently and would like to instead get the T3 when it is available, and get G1 on it. To do this I will need the graffiti files from a T1 to load on the T3. If anyone can get me these files I would be appreciative.

I like some features of Graffiti 2, such as the way it handles uppercase and some of the punctuation characters, but I still can't get used to the letters t and i and k -- and it is starting to TIK me off. Is there any hack or third party solution that can be used to change the way that Graffiti 2 handles certain specific characters? -Jeff RE: Is there a happy medium?
I don't understand why Palm can't make i,k and t "one stroke". I know that they can't have it exactly the same as before due to the Xerox lawsuit, but they need to have a "one stroke" option for every letter (even if it's counterintuitive) because some programs won't allow two strokes. You can draw a "D" fourteen different ways, but there's only one way to draw an "i"? RE: Is there a happy medium?guitarchick @ 8/22/2003 3:27:37 PM #
I love G1 but I am having tremendous problems with punctuation after switching back to it from G2 on my T/C. Anyone with suggestions/work arounds?
Took a while to figure it out, but here it is: 1. I used the SPUG files since I have no TT to use. Installed the two Graffiti 1 files to my SD card. (My attempt to install them directly to the Z71 resulted in a soft reset loop, which I could only escape by hard resetting. Thank God for BackupMan!) 2. Using FileZ, I copied the files to the Z71. 3. Soft reset, and it worked fine. I do in fact have the old Graffiti 1 help screen popup as well. Good deal. (Except now I have to relearn G1!) RE: Got it to work with FileZ on Zire 71
Initially, I had the old G1 screen back on my TT2 as well. But once I enabled the write on the screen, it disappeared and I can't get it back. Any ideas? RE: Got it to work with FileZ on Zire 71
I think writing on the screen is not an option for the Z71, so I can't help there. RE: Got it to work with FileZ on Zire 71budrowilson @ 8/23/2003 1:08:15 PM #
Writing on the screen *is* an option for Zire 71 owners. It's under Writing Area in Preferences. RE: Got it to work with FileZ on Zire 71
I wasn't talking about writing on the screen - I was talking about the help screen. Anyway, I figured it out. I have to open the slider on my TT2 to bring up the help screen.

I have been waiting a couple of days for these files to show up where I can get them. I was anxious to get back to G1 as I had never taken a shine to G2. After installing G1 and getting that feeling of a comfortable pair of shoes, I decided to see if I could restore G2 without a hard reset. I did a page up soft reset and used fileZ to try and delete the two files. It would not delete them, so I took a look at the settings and the two files have a setting of "bundle" in McFile and are shown as "Resource DB" in fileZ. I tried to untick the setting in fileZ, save changes and delete the file. It put me in a flashing Palm logo reset loop. I had to hard reset to get out of it. I don't feel like trying further, I believe you will have to hard reset to get rid of G1...but then why would you want to get rid of a pair of comfortable shoes as G1 !!! Glad to have you back! matty RE: Restoring G2 after trying G1 without a reset...not so mu
Here is a procedure to uninstall without a hard reset.
1) In Filez, go to the Details form for each database. Change both the name and creator code of each one. 2) Soft reset your device. 3) In Filez, delete the two databases. This works because Palm OS allows you to change the info for these while they are open, but not delete them. On a soft reset, it won't find the DBs, so it will use the ones in ROM, and then they won't be open anymore.
Oh.. This is a real cyberspace. Since I've told this trick to Brando over ICQ. He state that he want to post on www.brando.com.hk. I've no problem with that and didn't expect that this trick will be very popular like this.
But now its very popular and spread wide over the world. So then I would remove those file from tpug.org before my schedule to remove on Sunday. This is just to protect my self and tpug from illegal problem. Hope you understand this.
Well, a friend has my Palm Tungsten|T so I can't get my own Graffiti Libraries (he's borrowing my TT since I got my TT2 and I can't get my TT from him for the foreseable future.) got the files -- thanks to the person that sent them. i still have to decide between tealscript and graffiti 1, but it makes me soooo happy to know that i can revert to graffiti 1 if i want to. for those that care, i tested it on my tungsten c and here's what i did: * hotsync'ed after i did a reset, it prompted me for my password (as if the device had been locked) and after entered my password, it gave me some sort of fatal error. not sure what was happening here, but i did another soft reset and everything was fine. graffiti 1 worked like a charm even with "write anywhere on-screen". then to remove graffiti 1 without a hard reset, i did: * in filez, went to each of the files and appended 'xxx' to the name and changed the creator id to 'xxxx' in the end, everything was back to normal without a hitch.

PIC excells at this stuff. Great article! I stayed with OS4 when I upgraded to my Sony SJ33 in order to get some more milage from the apps and hacks I've spent money on in the past. I haven't tried Jot or Grafitti 2 yet, so I'm torn. The idea of dragging the original Grafitti files over to a newer machine is extremely cool fom a hacking standpoint, but will we be able to do this with OS6, or (for better or worse) would it be better to just learn the new method? Did they update the Giraffe game to train folks on the new method? The old one worked for teaching me G1. RE: Excellent! But I'm torn...Strider_mt2k @ 8/22/2003 6:35:24 AM #

I am still deciding on which I will use. The G1 is what I am use to (i,t,q,k,!). G2 makes these particular letter and punctuation tougher for me. The k is by far the toughest for me to pull off. Going back to G1 would solve all of these, but then I will no have the automatic CAP option when writing on the centerline. I a swipe to cap worth the easy of writing the other letters the first time (versus 3rd or 4th time)? hi guys, thanx for the tip on getting G1 back. can't locate the two needed graffiti files on my M505 to beam to my T2 - it'd be a huge help to send them to me - i'm tearing my hair out to get them off the M505 but it isnt working... please send Cheers REQ: BejeweledThe Ugly Truth @ 9/4/2003 1:46:09 AM #
hi guys, I really love the game Bejeweled but I can't afford to buy it right now - it'd be a huge help if someone could send it to me. You guys are the best and you're all the most amazing Palm experts around. please send Cheers RE: graffiti files all help appreciated !budrowilson @ 9/8/2003 9:15:52 AM #
That's just not cool man. I mean, if someone didn't know that was a joke, they might get into a little bit of trouble for doing that. In case anyone doesn't get it, Astraware makes Bejeweled.
It's hard to believe that 'hate' of G2 is wholly levelled at double stroke characters on these pages. I can deal with the need to adapt (= dumb/slow down to the more intuitive). But no degree of adaptation will speed up the nearly 2 second wait for for punctuation shift characters to display!! Does anyone know if there is a way of reducing the lag time between entering the strokes and the character appearing? This impediment alone will drive me back to G1 on my T2. RE: G2 Punctuation shift characters so .............slow
shift, do the punctuation characters, then shift again. The second shift indicates that you're finished - otherwised you have to wait the 2 seconds. RE: G2 Punctuation shift characters so .............slow
Thanks. Had read that but forgot to apply. Still, 5 strokes fro what was a dot and an alpha before is pretty cumbersome.
hi,
thanks for so much helpful information. i followed everything and got g1 installed on my zire 71. it works great, however, since doing that, when i try to close a da application using app/da launcher, i get this message, "SysEvtMgr.c, line:1409, pen q out of sync", and the system then locks and needs to be reset. does anyone know what needs to be done to fix it? thanks. vccac
Following instruction but deleting same name files on T3 first (using Filez) it works on the T3 using T1 Graffiti-1
The Wide Graffiti area works giving CAPS in the middle box and keeps old punctuation Geeez that Graffiti 2 was anoying!
I have been looking for something to give me G1 in my Zire 71 after finding that G2 just didn't work for me. (I even went so far as to buy a Clie SJ20, which is actually quite good -- now it's my backup.) Thanks for the leads. I am now Back to Normal!
Hi! This thread got me interested in joing this DB. On the Visor I own, the only two graffiti files on it are: Graffiti ShortCut, 2k graf and GraffitiDemo, 13k gdem. Will these work the same as the other larger graffiti files? Thanks! RE: What about my Visor? :-DThunderCracker @ 11/11/2003 5:11:14 PM #
You have to use the files from an OS 5 Handheld. I have done this on my T|E successfully. I actually used a Pocket PC to beam the files to the palm. Soft reset and I am done.
Palm III --> Compaq Areo 1550 --> Palm IIIc --> Visor Edge --> Casio EM500 --> Sony T415 --> Compaq 3670 --> Dell Axim x5 Advanced --> Sony SJ20 --> Palm T|E
1- I downloaded both files from a Tungsten T
2- Copied them to the SD Card 3- Copied from the SD Card to main memory 4- Soft Reset 5- Voila! Don't try to hotsync them because is not allowed. cheers
Unfortunately my brandnew Zire M150 has PalmOS 4.1.2 and has the impossible Graffiti 2 in ROM. My Palm III with Palm OS 3.3 has Graffiti Library v. 2.0 (but is still the original Graffiti!) in ROM BUT I can NOT find any Graffiti Library_enUS in ROM with Filez. How to get Graffiti Library_enUS.prc ? Will a version from Palm OS 5 work? If you have the files for my PalmOS 4 please email me at wil@mail.nu RE: Zire (PalmOS 4.12) has Graffiti2, how to get PalmOS 4 fijeremynichols @ 11/15/2003 7:51:35 PM #
You have to get the Grafitti-1 files from a Palm with OS5, such as a Tungsten. Your old model III (like my IIIxe) has an older OS and those files won't work. If you scroll back a couple of pages in this thread, you'll find the link to a web site where the guy is nice enough to post the required files. Download and unzip the files, copy them from your PC to your expansion card, put the card in your Zire, use a program like Filez to copy them from the card to the Palm's memory, and do a soft reset. You'll then have Grafitti-1 on your Zire. RE: Zire (PalmOS 4.12) has Graffiti2, how to get PalmOS 4 files?burkechurchill @ 11/21/2003 10:50:43 PM #
It WORKS!!! No more G2 on my T3! Thank God. I HATED it. Simply go to http://www.zansstuff.com/requests.html and download the files which also contain instruction on how to proceed. If you hate G2 you won't regret it. RE: Zire (PalmOS 4.12) has Graffiti2, how to get PalmOS 4 files?
Doesn't look like that site is one for warez. It looks like it just has some Graffiti files from the PIC fix, plus a few oddball news items and a blog. "Palminfocenter should delete this thread if they want to keep Palm's advertising dollars from walking away." PalmOne advertising on this site shouldn't have much impact on the content. Site policy is nothing illegal, as in warez, and that site has nothing more than what was suggested to be used in the G2->G1 fix made by PIC itself. Also, before all comments, there's a little message that says: "The following comments are owned by whoever posted them. PIC is not responsible for them in any way." If PalmOne would threaten to pull their ads everytime something questionable was brought up in forums, they WOULDN'T have any ads up. It doesn't work like that. Now if someone violates an NDA.. now that's a different story. RE: Zire (PalmOS 4.12) has Graffiti2, how to get PalmOS 4 files?Hippocrates @ 11/22/2003 1:44:04 AM #
How do you like your SE T616? Sweet phone, isn't it? Everything the T68i should have been, but wasn't. RE: Zire (PalmOS 4.12) has Graffiti2, how to get PalmOS 4 files?
Well that's a completely random topic, but yeah, it's a really nice phone. Cheap, boatload of features, pretty nice screen, great speaker volume, and decent reception. Pairs up beautifully with any Bluetooth-enabled PDA. -Bosco NX80v + Wifi + BT + T616 RE: Zire (PalmOS 4.12) has Graffiti2, how to get PalmOS 4 files?Abe Frohman @ 3/30/2004 1:32:16 PM #
I'm in the same boat here. M515 crashed (OS 4.1 with G1)...I got a new M515 and it came with OS 4.1.2 and Graffiti 2.
Can someone direct me to the OS 4 Graffiti 1 files or email them to me? Thanks! Abe
I need help. The advice that was published seems to apply only to OS 5.x I have 4.1 and want to go back to original Grafitti. Does anyone know how to do this? RE: Replace Graffiti 2 with Original Graffiti
I also need help with this. My M515 with G1 kept having fatal reset problems, so I ordered another M515 rather than sending it in for repair. I received the new M515, but unfortunately it has Palm OS 4.1.2 and G2. I tried installing the OS5 G1 Files and it didn't work. I tried installing the GraffitiExtension Files (GraffitiExtension.prc & GraffitiExtension_enUS.prc)from my G1 Model to the G2 Model, but it didn't work. Then, using FileZ I renamed these files to the exact same name as the rom files (Graffiti 2 Extension & Graffiti 2 Extension_enUS) and changed the creator to grf2, but this stopped Graffiti from working period. So, I'm guessing that you can't get G1 onto a G2 Palm running OS 4.1.2. If anyone knows how to please let us know. Thanks. RE: Replace 4.1.2 Graffiti 2 with Original Graffiti
My difficulties replacing G2 on my Kyocera 7135 are the same. The 4.1.2 files for Graffiti 2 are "Graffiti 2 Demo", "Graffiti 2 Extension", "Graffiti 2 Extension_enUS", "Graffiti 2 Prefs", and "Graffiti 2 Prefs_enUS". I have loaded "Graffiti Library" and ""Graffiti Library_enUS" with no net effect. What must be done with these files to change to Graffiti 1? Do I need to copy and rename "GraffitiExtension" and "GraffitiExtension_enUS" from my m515? Brian.Schellenberger@rrd.com
This may be heresy, but do you know if it's possible to put Graffiti 2 on a Graffiti device? Will the hack work in reverse? I griped about the adjustment to Graffiti 2 as well, but for new users Graffiti seems to be much easier to pick up. I own both files so I'm not worried about the copyright issues. RE: Putting Graffiti 2 on Palm Zirehappypalms @ 5/24/2004 12:27:07 AM #
The following I tried and it works great!!! :D
Trandor @ 8/21/2003 11:41:20 PM I have successfully put G2 on my TT as well as write anywhere. For G2 you need the following files: Graffiti 2 Library, size 95K, creator grft For write anywhere you need: GoLCD, size 7K, creator GAny This worked for me, your mileage may vary.
HELP!!! I went to the zansstuff site and he no longer has the files posted there (not that I could find.) Could someone send me the files, please? Thanks!!! RE: Graffiti 1 files for OS5I.M Anonymous @ 1/17/2004 2:59:47 AM #

Hi everyone! Can anyone Pleeease send me these 2 graffiti1 files. I' am going nuts, it's just so auful. I almost can't use this graffiti2. The most annoying thing is these (i,t,k...) 2-stroke characters. And much more problems. For example , if ward ends with (L) and than i want to make space (it's a common case) What do you think i have instead? T! I've been looking all over the net - all links with graffiti1 are broken. On zan's stuff page in his zip file graffiti library.prc is 1kb instead of 30 - so it is broken too probably. i moved from Vx to zire 71 so i have nowhere to get graffiti1 Please send me to muchael4 [at] 012.net.il Thanks in advance. RE: NE1 Find a Solution for G1 on the Sony Clie UX50??
check your email. maybe Santa will send you a late gift. RE: NE1 Find a Solution for G1 on the Sony Clie UX50??
I too am frusterated with graffiti2 on my new tungsten and am ready to return to my old palm. I've tried the FileZ rom solution and do not have the two referenced files on my m515.
Can someome make my New Year by sending the files to me? Gracias!
Just wanted to thank the people in this thread for getting me back to Graffiti 1. I was nearly ready to return the d*mn thing...

I followed your steps and all works ok. I cannot believe the number of comments about doing something illegal. If the software is Xerox owned why do they not promote it and sell to to palm users. Maybe they are but I have not read or seen anything in any magazine or website.
For the people that are concerned about doing something illegal - my suggestion is do not read the PIC and or get a life !

They are nowhere to be found :-(
Could somebody be so kind to share them with me? arpenaREMOVE@THIShotmail.com will do fine !! Thanks !
Would anyone be so kind as to send me the two required files to revert to graffiti 1? sink200 AT hotmail.com
My old handspring visor got stepped on :(
Hi,
I can only say I'm not satisfied with Graffitti 2 but I have found a tremendous piece of software TealScript from Tealpoint. This allows you to customize how you write all letters and I mean all letters including all the international ones and special characters. This is really worth the 20$ Best regards
Could someone email me the files to put Graffiti 1 on my T2? I've been a Palm user since 96 (Palm Pilot and Palm V), and have been laboring with the Graffiti 2 since getting my T2 in Sept.
Thank you !!! RE: want to put Graffiti 1 on T2 - hate Graffiti 2!
Did someone send you the files? Did it work? If so, could you send them to me? Thank you.
I tried this without success. I found the two files mentioned, alright. Beamed the first one using BeamBox. This caused a Fatal Exception immediately upon accepting the file. Soft reset wouldn't get it. Only a Hard Reset would do, naturally wiping out all of my hard work & the newly installed Graffiti Library.prc with it. Has anybody else experienced this? What's the solution? I was really itching to get back to the Original Graffiti.
RE: Howto: Replace Graffiti 2 with Original Graffiti
Why don't you just install TealScript v3.21 It emulates graffiti version 1 when you tick the 'enable' box with no changes in default settings. It also offers infinite modification to all character strokes should you want, but I use it just to write 'k', 't' and 'i' the way I have been for ths last 6 years! stephen RE: Howto: Replace Graffiti 2 with Original Graffiti
*ahem* FINALLY! I have a Tungsten E. I dunno if this is normal for Tungsten E users, or if I'm just cursed (call it a fifty-fifty shot). But getting those two little files on my T|E took a heck of a lot of effort, because I don't have a SD card or a T|T, and the Palm Install Tool refused to install the files to an "expansion card" created using PalmRamDisk. I *did* ultimately succeed though, and (more to the point) succeeded in a manner that is platform-agnostic (at least as much as ZBoxZ is), so this may be of interest to Mac and Linux users. I haven't actually tested this, tho; I don't have access to a Mac, and even tho I prefer Linux I was using Windows at the time I got this working and I don't want to try going through this again ;). So, here's how I ultimately managed: And if you think that instruction list is long, you should have seen my wild attempts at getting this going before! ;) RE: Howto: Replace Graffiti 2 with Original Graffiti
Man- what a pain all that sounds!
I too went to my IBM Workpad c3 (aka Palm Vx) and discovered that there were no files there. Since the batteries had long since died, I had to do a full sync and thanks to the developers of WebPro, AcroRead, and the BT software the sync copied all of those files to my Vx as well, even though the two are different machine names... Oh well... Anyhow- I got the files off of the illustrious WWW. I now didn't know how to get them to my Tungsten T3. I don't have an SD reader for PC, and I didn't want to install a bunch of crazy software and copy files all over the place. So, I tried beaming to my T3, but for some reason it doesn't bring up the IR stuff in Windows like my Vx does. Ahh well. Then, oh yes- I did OBEX File Push to throw the files across Bluetooth to my T3. I just started the transfer, a few seconds later it completed, and then I rebooted. Way easy! I suggest to whoever is maintaining the G1 files that the instructions add this option, because it is the easiest way by far (if you don't have the G1 files already on another Palm machine).

If anyone knows where I can get Graffiti 2 and Write Anywhere, please e-mail me at: happytidbits@yahoo.com.
I have a T|T and I would like to try Graffiti 2. The files I want are: Graffiti 2 Library, size 95K, creator grft
Hi
I too think the Graffitti 1 to 2 switch was stupid. I was able to shift the files from my Tungsten T to my Tapwave Zodiac with no effect. Tapwaves files are names like the Tungsten, but include "2" in the title, so I renamed the Tungsten 1 files. That's when I got a critical error message and had to hard reset to recover. I don't think it works for Zodiac ;( Rich

I'd really appreciate if someone would send the files to chadbailey AT gmail.com. I'll trade you for a gmail invite when I have some, if you're interested. I've tried pulling the files from my visor deluxe, but no dice. Imagine the change from that to an NX73V that came in the mail friday...

Could someone please email me the two necessary .prc files? I'm in the proces of upgrading from a Vx, and I can't get used to the new G2 system either. Have looked all over the web, but with little success. Thought my Vx would have it on ROM, but for some reason I couldnt locate it - even after ticking the ROM box in Filez. Thanks. My email address is: Polanski@paradise.net.nz
I have a Tungsten C and hate G2. Tried to beam files from Clie but no go. Does any one have the original G1 files from an old Palm?

I have seen earlier posts with downloads to replace graffiti 2 with graffiti 1. can anyone forward with instructions?

Can someone please - please - PLEASE - send me the two files needed to convert back to blessed Graffiti 1.
Thanks in advance.
