Yeah, those guys at Palm took my idea too! See, I had this cool idea about keeping my calender on a pack of "newports"....

The actual patent can be downloaded from:

While the patent itself seems a little ridiculous to me, I think the case can be thrown out on one point. The patent is specifically for a credit-card-sized device. It constantly refers to the device as a 'card'. While the Palm is pretty slim (especially the V), I don't think anyone would ever mistake one for a credit card.

Another discussion thread talks about the motherboard size, not the actual device size.

Personally, I think this is a joke, a ploy to try to make a quick buck in the wake of Palm's IPO.

Seems to me they should be pursuing REX, not Palm!

If you check out the E-pass page you'll see only drawings of their "product". They have a pretty ambitious
product with lots of technical challenges, it'll be interesting to see if it works but I'm not sure what market exists. Looks alot like a smart card
"card card with a processor"....maybe the smart card patent holder should sue e-pass for an infringement ;)

Don't you think they should have done this when the original Pilot was released on the market? Perhaps they wanted to see if there "idea" sucked or not. Considering the fact that "if" they win they eliminate the competion and have the funding to relea
