1. It's cheaper ($MSRP wise).
2. It's multi-platform
3. It comes in vastly nicer packaging and includes a nifty little SD caddy/holder plastic thingie.

Actually no, if you go to the site, you see that there are optional tick boxes for compression and encryption.

How about backing up the info on my SD card?

Unless you're using a T3. ;)

Not if it's stolen, destroyed while the house burns down, or "accidentally" reformatted, etc... To be on the safe side, you need backups of your backups, with some of those backups stored off-site... and encrypted if you're worried about any personal information being stolen.

Anyway, we need backups for all backups. Being how unreliable harddisks are today(most manufacturers are only offering 1 year instead of the usual 3 year warranty), I am running RAID-1 which provides redundancy because data is written on two separate HDD. If one fails I have another.
I then backup important stuffs to a 2.5" 40Gb USB 2.0 portable harddisk which I brings with me on long holidays in case my house gets broken into and my PC stolen.

As a bonus on some of them they are offering FileMan and SplashClock two very lame products IMHO.

I hope people don't get confused:
FileMan is one of the best PalmOS file managers around.
FilePoint is a bloated app that is indeed "lame".

Sorry...
Or to carry a dedicated back up card.
And it's WAY cheaper.
Wondering....
I've been holding off Backup Utilities because I don't have the need, but I'm just curious whether or not this is something that I really want to use....
In a Desolate Forest, an enchanted Palm-Powered Handheld is waiting to possess a helpless soul in the wake--The Palm-Powered Handheld's name is EURENZANNIG.
RE: Wondering....
If you own a T3 and went through the process of restoring data after the recent ROM update, you'll appreciate the need of a backup utility. A simple hotsynch will not restore important preferences (e.g. shortcuts, 3rd party launcher preferences, registration data for certain 3rd party apps, Grafitti 1, etc.)
