Well, it seems price reductions on devices always forstall an upgraded model? I would love to see a "new Z71" with more ram, min 1 MP camera, 320x480 rez screen etc. Can we expect to see a new model by Feb/March next year perhaps?

What a sweet device with 320x480(better late than never) or even VGA(aint' gonna happen), which is reportedly built into OS 5.2.1. Usually Palm does a color-option-marketing-thingy to wring the last bit of volume out of a model. This would look sweet in red, purple or best of all ... pearlescent Rocky-Top Tennessee orange!

I doubt VGA is going to happen for at least two more releases. Of course, there is always the question of "why VGA?" We don't need it to fit more on the screen, as you can already fit stuff on the screen that is so small you need a magnifying glass to see it. Seems like it would be for bragging rights only rather than real usefulness. Movies become a pain because the file size gets unmanageable. A 1.5 hour movie is 400MB+ for 320x480. Looks nice, but until they give away 1Gig SD cards in your box of cereal, VGA resolutions will be unkind to video fans. A workaround is lower res videos, then using the zoom function... but that's a step backwards.

I don't know about VGA. Normally they try new technologies in the Tungsten range (XScale, >16MB RAM, 5-way, 320*320, 320*480) but having a VGA screen on a device like this would make a little sense. Also - so would 128MB of memory.

Just add Bluetooth and keep the price about the same, that'd probably be enough for me to buy it.

Insanely bright screen

The Zire 71 is close to perfect for a PDA. The screen is insanely bright -- INSANE! I use it as a flashlight when I go spelunking (look it up). All they need to do is:

* move power button
* get rid of stupid joystick (it always turns the device on!)
* increase camera to 1280x960 (or higher please!)
* make less slippery
* include mmplayer

To add to that wish list...

* Get rid of the slider/lens cover device.
* Have the camera in a pivit with a full cover locking position.
* Allow streaming video to be directly recorded to an SD card.
* Built in Bluetooth.
* An higher grade model with built in WiFi.
* Replace the joystick with a regular five way control.
* Sell color shells like the old m100 line.
* Drop RealPlayer and bundle in AeroPlayer.
* Upgradeability to Palm OS 6
* 64 Megs of RAM
* KEEP Universal Connector!!!
* Price points of US$300 for entry and US$450 for the WiFi version.

Since it is Xmas, I'll consider this my wish list.

NO! The T|T series is BT; the T|C series is WiFi; NO WIRELESS FOR ZIRE! Ugh! They'll probably get a new letter for BT + WiFi.
