Comments on: PALM Gains 20% on Lenovo Takeover Rumor

Shares of Palm Inc. stock gained 20% in trading yesterday on a rumor that China based Lenovo Group was interested in the company. The stock closed Wednesday up 77 cents to close at $4.62.

While Palm's stock is no stranger to M&A rumors and insider trading moves, this latest bit of wall street speculation was kicked into high gear by a mention by CNBC anchor Jon "option monster" Najarian. He remarked that the play would be a "very nice cheap shot for Lenovo" and in the same sentence mentions U2's Bono should just do the deal himself.

On the serious side, Lenovo made no official comment, however this MarketWatch article mentions that the Lenovo CEO has mentioned in recent interviews that the company is looking into making more acquisitions to build out their mobile Internet business.

Pump n Dump baby. If the remainder of Palm sells to an Asian firm, then I will finally bow out for good. Nothing against Asia or Asians, it's just that 1/2 the world is a long way off to feel much love. Just me.

What is the stock price needed to now keep Palm in North America and build a Palm Classic?

Agree China is too far away. i live in North America and understand this market of never giving up. i know little about China.

What i do know is that they are an emerging economy that seem to be able to purchase advanced technology when they told the world that they needed our capital to assist with infrastructure building. Again our North American capital has goner to a nation that has not used our capital as agreed. Now they own a big portion of North Americas debt which means we are working for China.

I did not agree to work for China i agreed to work with North America. If i wanted to work for China i would move to China.

i understand the business model sell to the highest bider. At some point we need to become the highest bider or we start to lose our choices.

If people want to be Chinese then move to China. If people want to buy opium move to Afghanistan there is a place in the world for everyone and there choices.

It is good to trade with the world just not to be owned by other nations. Once we are owned by other nations then they seem to think they can tell us what to do, who to associate with who to help and so on.

Democracy is not cheap it takes thoughtful hard work to live in a democracy. China is not a democracy it is a totalitarian capitalist dictatorship.

Just some thoughts. Still able to exercise my freedom of speech while encouraging peaceful interaction.

Another reason to keep North American innovation is the intellectual content and revenue is produced in North America which assures knowledge and capital is distributed and taxed in North America.

Try to buy a home when people are bidding on that home from all over the world. If North America does not have the capital to compete how can we buy a home when others can pay more? The reality is those with capital can buy a home. Some markets are a wash in capital while others are spending capital and priceless resources helping two countries have peace. It is the plan that by 2011 sufficient time and resources will have been spent. If they still do not have peace as a consequence of corruption then there is no one to blame but those that had the opportunity to work with nations that can show a better way than war. Perhaps in some nations peace is a choice and in other nations war has become a business not a normal part of life. War is not a business it is a consequence. War is something that most people do not want. Continuing to fund a war that people do not want after 2011 will not be well received by the people that must shoulder the cost of such choices.

It is best to succeed by 2011 and help build industries that can sustain the peace in the region with technology that works in a desert such as solar technology. Such technology can make electricity to help re-build the infrastructure. If this is not a choice then we come home and focus on North America and our allies economy.

Well Palm stock is looking better. Let's work to assure this is because people choose Palm and not as a result of a possible takeover. Still need to know at what value Palm must stay at to stay an independent North American company that can build a Palm Classic.

A Palm Classic would offer the best of Palm past, present and future.

Palm is one of the few handheld brands that can draw from such resources as a choice to be a pioneer in their field. That truth should help Palm's value in North America and around the world.

There will always be those that want or think Palm will fail. Equally if not more think and believe in Palm and Palm will continue its independence in a field Palm helped pioneer.

Would you choose a Palm Classic?

Thinking of the best of North Americas Palm past, present and future or what ever you want, what would a Palm Classic become?

Please share your thoughts too. One hopes the excitement of building new choices will spread and more people will enjoy the freedom of innovation and the satisfaction such peaceful endeavor provide.

North America and our allies have the best talent in the world that is why so many countries come to shop in North America for our innovation. The roots of much of our innovations comes from Europe. Europe was the first region to invest in North America and democracy. This is a region that understands North America's will to succeed and never give up even when it is the darkest moment. Only with great thought and effort will we over come the tremendousness strain to true success. We are a region that never quites we use our minds and all our resources to resolve issues which seem impossible to some. It is this character that will always see us to the light of a vibrant day.

As many haver seen, of late, Palm has risen to enhance value and can continue this North American tradition of excellence. This tradition is shared by many in North America and our allies. Such determination is an asset which offers consistent value to our ever changing planet.

Palms stock has climbed to 6.10.

Rather than hoping, praying and wishing they get bought out why not work to encourage Palm to build a Palm Classic and remain an independent North American enterprise? If Palm moves out of North America because we can no longer afford such choices we will lose the intellectual content, jobs and the brand.

Palm's North American brand is a strong asset that can draw from the past, present and future.

Fake Jeff Hawkins @ 4/15/2010 4:56:47 AM # Q
Instant-on, tablet convertible, Trackpoint-bearing, 10 inch screen, complete suite of webOS apps including word processor, browser, email, address book and calendar, 12 hour battery life. Multitasking. Virus-proof. Solid construction. $299.

I would buy 3 of these the day they were released.
