The popular video application CorePlayer has been updated for classic Palm OS and Windows Mobile devices. CorePlayer mobile provides a wide array of multimedia features including, audio, video, streaming and podcast functionality. This new update provides a number of enhancements to YouTube playback and overall program performance. In addition the app now supports over 30 different languages. Native API or not, Corecodec still likes the Pre. BetaBoy posted this over in the Precentral forums:
You'll likely see CorePlayer on the Pre before Android..... we all have Pre's here now(if that gives you and indication of what we are doing).

Is it things like that Palm execs fear may be created on the Pre and why there is no native code API?
It probably has more to do with getting it out the door sooner rather than later and trying to get rapid adoption of the device by Web 2.0 types.
When video players started to sprout up for the Palm OS a few years ago, it didn't make every marketing czar around there happy at all.
Cite? I don't recall anyone at Palm complaining about video on the PalmOS and in fact I'd be surprised to hear that it ever happened at all. This sounds more like one of the "PIC faithful" conspiracy theories about Palm executives conspiring to cripple older devices so users will be forced to upgrade.
