RE: Shareholders
As your namesake once eloquently said "Never get emotional about stocks".

RE: Shareholders
I wonder if PalmOne is tempted to simply become a smartphone company with low-end garbage PDAs at dirt cheap prices?

Wonder how much of his stock Nagel has already sold before PalmSource's current tumble?
Ed deserves this promo!!!

But bad work should not be tolerated. I hope Mr Colligan can get to the bottom of who made the stupid decision to omit the "show only due" function from the palmOne Tasks app. (Deleting this filter has made it impossible to view Task categories without being inundated with items which can be left for another day.) Better still, please get them to write a patch to put that function back where it belongs.
RE: Ed deserves this promo!!!
I have also tried DateBk5, ShadowPlan, Bonsai, BrainForest, ThoughtManager & LifeBalance. Each of them is remarkable in its own way. However I much prefer the raw simplicity of the palmone Tasks appliction. (I steadfastly refuse to read manuals, and proud of it!)
I have not yet tried BeyondContacts and Ketsuite. Their claim to fame seems to be that they are similar to M$ Outlook. Frankly, as a PIM, M$ Outlook is a dog, so I anything that emulates it is out of the question as far as I am concerned.
There are a couple of intruiging freeware apps out there too - Projects (by Peter Novotnik), Progects (an outliner) and KSToDo. Each of them is good, but Tasks works better for me.
I have even hacked a copy of To Do List from my T2 and copied over to my TE (thank you nosleep software for the Filez filemanager - it's a wonder). It works just fine, but there are no repeat functions or alarms like in Tasks.
So, no matter what I have tried, I keeping going back to Tasks, but I still wish palmOne would put the "show only due" function back in there.
Just humour me on this, OK? I am a customer, ergo I am always right!!! ;^)
As for palmOne not listening to customer feedback, I don't think that is always true. Applications like Calender, Contacts, Tasks and Memos contain improvements which reflect what we have asked for. palmOne may be slow, but they do respond to feedback (eventually).

Palm's Future - a timeline
August, 2004 - new Treo (900) released. Better screen, better camera, 0.75 ounce lighter. Device picked up by most major carriers + Treo begins to account for 50% of Palm's profits.
September, 2004 - Tungsten T4 and Tungsten X (BT + 802.11b + 128 MB RAM + keyboard) released. Tungsten 4 feels like it was construted of aluminum foil.
October, 2004 - Treo 900 sales slump as new Sony Ericsson smartphone announced.
4th quarter, 2004 - After $30 million loss, Palm announces scaling back PDAs to concentrate on smartphones. Investor panic drives shares below $5.
Lo, it will come to pass, for these things have been written.

as fiction.
Your timeline leaves out Zire, which show how much you know about most of the customers who actually buy the things.

The Palm SD Bluetooth drivers: hide the truth?
It's time users demaded more of Palm.
Congratulations, Ed Colligan!
This is the man whose mantra was "Delight the customer!" -- and which led to the eventual fantastic PalmOS apps.
There might be hope for palmOne now!
RE: Congratulations, Ed Colligan!
Let's hope that Mr. Colligan puts the out-of-control Palm support fiasco high on his list of priorities.

Replying to the email to make them aware of the advance exchange error, I get a response saying "In order for us to deal efficiently with your enquiry, please visit our e-service offering at www.palmone.com/us/support".
Going online and filling the forms out all over, I get another automated response saying I should expect a response within 12 hours.
I was a Help Desk lead for 15,000 customers before being promoted, and I know things should work better than this.
Hey President Ed Colligan: where's the SD Bluetooth drivers?
Ed, please stop hogging the 802.11 drivers...
Regardless, it's pretty clear that Palm is hogging peripheral technology so that they can reap the benefit$ of selling Palm-branded peripherals. This is the antithesis of the Palm history and culture. Palm needs to HELP their hardware partners, not HURT them. Handspring kinda knew that, even though their springboard sucked a$$.
