Handbase Centro problem

drw @ 12/18/2007 11:27:48 PM # Q
HandBase was resetting my Centro when I added a record.

##377# yeilded:

"A crash occurred on 12/12/07 at 5:40pm while running "Handbase 3":

StringMgr.C, Line:68, NULL string passed

I tried re-installing the data and program files. Didn't help. Starting with a hard reset and only Handbase loaded it would put my Centro into a string of reboots and could only stop them by removing the battery and doing a hard reset. I also tried version 4 of Handbase and it started the reboots just like the previous version.

After using Handbase for many years since a Palm IIIe, I am now reluctantly using Smartlist To Go because Handbase didn't like my Centro.

Man, I'm sad to hear that, because I too am a long time HanDBase user, who has moved from a Treo 700p to a Centro. My Centro is so stable, that I'm not willing to put things on it that appear to have issues, so I guess until I hear otherwise, I'm not installing HanDBase.

Thanks both for the feedback- I assure you that there are many users using Centros with HanDBase (both 3.x and 4.0) and not having these issues. I think there is something system specific going on with JackG's setup, likely the dreaded saved_preferences issue, or even perhaps a bug, but it certainly is not effecting most devices!

Please contact us on our support page if you haven't already and we'll see if we can find the cause of the problem!

Thanks!

Handbase 3 with Centro no problem. Upgraded to Handbase and my Centro crashes. I''ve counted on the program to help me with patient rounds but unless this problem can be solved, will need to find a stable solution. I''ve added no new programs, haven''t changed any prefs since "upgrading" to handbase 4, so I''m sure it must be a software problem. Any ideas or anyone else with similar problems? I am able to access the database, then as soon as I try to enter data, I get the palm logo and a reboot. Please help.

TX Issue?

PacManFoo @ 12/20/2007 8:28:25 AM # Q
Don't know if it was a coincidence or not but after installing the demo the following day my TX went into a reset loop. Up to that time I hadn't been having any problems and since doing a restore that did not include the handbase demo I haven't had a problem.

My TX did the same thing. I installed Handbase 4 and got the dreaded infinite reset loop.

Hard reset. Purged it out of desktop. Reinstalled everything else. Okay again.

Will not be using on my TX.

Works great on my T680

jgfolely @ 12/23/2007 1:44:00 PM # Q
As a long time HanDBase user I want to let everyone know that the improvements to HanDBase 4 are great. Backing up from the card is a welcome improvement. It's very stable on my T680. I've used HanDBase on all my previous Palm OS pda's for the past 6yrs without any major problems. Any time an issue came up it was promptly rectified. My hat is off to Dave Haupert and his team at DDH Software for such a wonderful product.
