What they don't like to tell you...

zuhmir @ 8/2/2007 11:56:46 AM # Q
Is that there is no VOIP. if you want to call other skype users, you have to use skype-out minutes because the actual call goes through your cellular phone via call-back.
also you have to pay for all incoming calls for the same reason.

I had to dig in the faq to get this basic information...

I read the title of the post and looked at the amount of comments and knew that this wasn't actually skype, thanks for digging up the info though

well... at least it's usable as a chat program with your skype buddies,
that feature works great.

Zuhmir, I think you are missing something important here. All those VOIP Skype apps they consume so much traffic that they actually end up more expensive. I have personally tried IM+ for Skype on my Treo and can conclude that the call quality is great and chating with my Skype clients on the go has never been easier.

I suggest you guys, try it out first (free for one week) and see for yourself if I am wrong.

IM+ for Skype is not a VOIP client, therefore the call quality is good and it doesn't consume so much traffic as others do.

Hoop, i did try it, no complaints about quality... but i want true VOIP,
because everywhere i go there's a wifi hotspot (malls, restaurants, coffee shops, university....). i'm going for free calls.
i don't own a treo only because it doesn't has wifi... i guess they don't bother making Skype for Palm for that exact reason...

Nobody Needs Skype

LiveFaith @ 8/2/2007 12:50:33 PM # Q
Nobody needs Skype, VOIP, or any other WiFi based solutions. Palm has already told us that we don't need it. All you need is a Treo. Thanks masters.

Trouble Logging Into Skype

peaston @ 8/12/2007 12:02:31 PM # Q
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced problems setting up this software?

Download and installation were successful, but during setup the sofware was unable to connect to my Skype account.

I followed all support suggestions:

1. I verified that I could log into Skype from my desktop.
2. I downloaded the software from the developer's Web site and reinstalled it.
3. I tried logging in with the test account provided by the developer.
4. I verified that all other applications that use data service were working: Web browser, e-mail reader, pTunes Internet radio ... they all work.

I'm using a Treo 680.

If anyone else experienced and solved this problem, please post you solution.
