Comments on: Palm Posts Audio Fix for AT&T Treo 750

Coming right after a flurry of updates to the Treo 700w/wx and 700p, Palm has released an update for their flagship Windows Mobile 5-based Treo 750 on the AT&T GSM network.

The update is designed to address a long-standing complaint some users have had where system resources become occupied with too many simultaneous tasks and certain audio alerts and notifcations are muted. Palm also states that a residual effect of the bug is that the camera/camcorder function of the 750 can also cease to function.

Speaking of audio. How to get A2DP working on Treo 680.

VampireLestat @ 7/20/2007 3:23:27 PM # Q
I bought a pair of Sony BT earbuds.
Now listening to music and radio shows on my Treo 680 via wireless BT!

It just keeps getting better.

For those interested:
- Buy Softick Audio Gateway (http://www.softick.com/bluetooth-audio/).
- Buy 'Sony Bluetooth Stereo Headset (DRBT10CX)' from BestBuy.
- Charge it, hold earphone's 'Power' button for 7 sec, then detect 'Nearby devices' with Treo 680, then run 'Softick Audio Gateway'. That whole process is called 'pairing' and only needs to be done once.
- Then play any song on Treo 680! :-)

The buds snuggly fit in any ear shape and there is easy Volume control on the BT earphones. Awesome stuff.

Sidenote:
- Range for me is about 20 feet.
- You can get calls also with them, as the earphones have a mic.

Vamp,

Those are not on BBs website. How much do these things set you back?

Sounds like a great idea. I have been wondering why someone has not bundled this experience. I guess Palm and the rest will wait on Apple to do a killer ad campaign on a wireless iPod / iPhone, and then try to make cheaper wanna bes?

Seems to me like Palm could market the gandolf or Z22 replacement as an mp3 phone/pda in lollipop colors with the "breakthrough" wireless audio, showing how much more advanced it is that the archaic wired iPods and MP3 players. Bundle the most economical BT earbuds with it, and give a 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB SD/SDHC option at the store or web. $250 and they would rock with the right "funky" image campaign. Maybe the little orange ball man with wire free tunes? Who knows.

Anyway, I might try this if the $$$ is digestible.

You are right, the USA BestBuy does not carry them online. Ask BB if they can order them for you. Or Google for some other store that carries them.

It is so cool.
You can clip the little BT thingy inside your shirt, out of sight and leave the buds hang over your shirt collar. You have access to songs via BT within seconds reach all day long.

For those of you that don't follow exchange rates, $83.37 USD works out to roughly $86.70 CAD. Pat Horne, that was real mean of you to make Vampy look up the US price and realise he overpaid by over 50%. But cross-border shopping can be a pain, too.

Actually, I thank him.

You are right, I was ripped off.
Minutes after writing the PIC post, I emailed BestBuy and asked for a Price Match refund. I found a Canadian website that was selling it for $ 89.43 cad.

If all goes well, BestBuy should refund me around 50$ soon.

I knew it someone deleted it!
This is exactly why I left Brighthand and rarely ever posted again.

Forum micromanagement in the name of keeping order is BAD.
Have fun with the others because I am no longer posting here.

VampireLestat, I was just trying to move the discussion to a more appropriate story.

I did not delete your comment just moved it, I thought you would notice in the latest comments list so I'm sorry if you got the impression I removed it.

This particular article is about the windows mobile 750 rom update, while your comment is about A2DP with Palm OS devices. So I simply moved the comment over to the Audio Gateway review, which is what you are discussing here.

I'm not one to 'micromanage' the discussions at all, however I like to try to keep comments with the more relevant article. It's rare that I ever move or delete something but in this case, it was pretty off topic for this article.
