Comments on: Treo 700p Appears in New Movie

There has been yet another Palm Treo sighting in a major Hollywood motion picture. This time around, the Treo 700p makes a cameo in the new gross-out pregnancy comedy "Knocked Up".

In the film directed by Judd Apatow (of "The 40-Year Old Virgin" Fame), Katherine Heigl plays Alison Scott, a rising television celebrity news channel star who accidentally becomes impregnated during a drunken one-night stand with an unemployed slacker played by Seth Rogen.

Heigl's character is seen using a Sprint Treo 700p in several scenes of the film. The 700p's native camcorder app is used to full effect to capture the events of the pivotal night's drunken revelry. Unlike most films where unrealistic CGI is "pasted" onto a device with lesser capabilities, the video is realistically grainy looking and the the UI of Palm's camcorder app is shown. "Sprint" and "Palm" branding are both displayed prominently during this sequence.

 How Ironic

Knocked up would probably described the moment many a Palm user first bought the 700P except in this case they have been getting screwed ever since having to bear the responsibility for taking care of this little device with little support.

Okay here come all the analogous jokes...

How ironic that seeing a Treo in a movie warrants being front page news! ;)

 Trivia about the Scene

I watched Katherine Heigl on Conan last week where they played a clip from the movie that featured the 700p. I thought I noticed a glitch in the scene, so I rewound the clip on my Tivo and watched again. While the editing is set to make you think there's just one long clip, the two shots of the phone are actually playing different clips -- the end time is different, and the current position indicator moves backwards.

 700p: good $650.00 'camcorder,' BUT...
joad @ 6/12/2007 3:02:01 PM #

Somthing tells me the movie won't be showing off the bluetooth headset features of the 700p.

(Deleted scene: "hello? hello? hello!!? oh.. it's coming out the speaker on my phone because my BT headset unpaired yet again... CUT!!!!).

Just like all stars: reduced to silly cameo roles.

Fitting!

while Palm is prayer for Apple to slip... Either way, Palm needs something better than Folio, and with this 700P FIASCO, still no Update, that's the best Palm can do?

I still get my White Screen daily after Backup Buddy, when I switch to "web browser"... The spontanious resets also every or every other day thing...

Can you hear me now, Palm, Verizon?

SHAME ON YOU!!!!

If the movie would have been called Locked Up, the Treo would be the "main" star....

Vote for John Kerry... best man for the job.

Shortly Treos in No More Movies.

Once iPhone will hit the street, Palm is lost. Palm will be history. iPhone will apear in the next movies. Palm will apear only in historical movies.

Oh please. Product placement in movies has nothing to do with the actual device and everything to do with marketing. So as long as Palm keep paying up...
