Kyocera Confirms pdQ² Details

In an interview with CNET, Kyocera spokesman said the photos of his company's forthcoming hybrid phone/PDA posted last week were real, though a bit dated. The only major change is that the pdQ² will have only Kyocera's and Palm's logos, not Qualcomm's. It will be officially announced November 27 and available early next year. The spokeperson refused to reveal the price, though he did say it would be "considerably" less than the $800 the pdQ cost.

I WANT one

I.M. Anonymous @ 10/31/2000 10:08:22 AM #
Price was the ONLY thing that kept me from getting a pdQ when it first came out. I lusted after it for almost a year before it hit the streets. When it did the price tag made me choke! Hopefully they've learned a lesson and will price this thing a little more reasonably. (I can buy a good Palm and phone for less than $600.00)

This is the phone to get

OK, the phone still looks a bit wide, but you do need to fit all the data on the screen.

I've got an IBM WorkPad c3 (a black Palm Vx), and have lusted after the Omnisky Minstrel V for some time--but now, I won't need either when I get the PDQ2!

My question is: how do you HotSync the PDQ2? I also join the writer of the article in asking where the IR port is...

If you look at the third picture on this page:
http://www.palminfocenter.com/view_Story.asp?ID=1366
you will see that the IR port is on the top.

The serial port is on the bottom. According to the user manual, it comes with a cradle for HotSyncing that apparently works just like any other Palm. The cradle uses a serial connection to the PC, not USB. It comes with the Palm Desktop app, too.

Too big

I think the phone is too huge to be aestically appealing. A visor phone is better.
