Palm, in association with Temasek Polytechnic and the Info-communications Development Authority of Singapore, is going to open the Mobile Computing Center, a school to train Singapore developers to write Palm applications. "The initiative is part of our goal to push the Palm OS as a ubiquitous operating system on the handheld environment," said Palm Asia-Pacific director Chng Poh Hwa. -Mike Cane

Handwave Inc. has introduced the Poplet Kit for creating, configuring, and executing Poplet module applications. These are programmed in the Handscript language (Javascript compatible) and launched via the Palm OS 3.5 command bar. Poplet modules enhance built-in applications by sharing their user interface elements and render information dynamically on device by generating Web Clippings. -Jim Anderson

HealthEngage Asthma allows asthma sufferers to enter their vital data onto their PalmOS device, then either bring their it device with them to their doctor’s appointment, or synchronize it with their desktop version of HealthEngage and print out charts, graphs and reports to bring to their doctor’s, or using the desktop software they can upload it to a HealthEngage secure server, where it is stored for viewing by the patient, their caregiver, or their doctor anywhere in the world via the Internet. It costs $60 but buy before April 15th and get $20 off. A version of HealthEngage for wireless PalmOS devices is expected to be released within a few weeks and remove the need for synchronizing with the desktop application. -Michael

SplashData has released SplashPhoto 2.1, a photo viewer for Palm OS handhelds. SplashPhoto displays color and gray-scale images on a Palm as thumbnails, individually or in a slide show. The upgraded version now includes a desktop image editor (for Mac and Windows) that allows users to crop, zoom, rotate and enhance images prior to uploading them to a Palm. The desktop image editor also allows users to modify image names and categories and to mark images as private. The Palm application now includes dialogs for easier categorization, deletion and beaming of images. And support has been added for gray-scale devices running Palm OS 3.1, such as the Handspring Visor and Visor Deluxe. It costs $20. -John Chaffee

Development training in USA

Why not start a Palm development center right here in USA? I will be the first to sign up. I would love to be able to write programs for Palm.

There are already *many* classes being run on Palm Development. Checkout:

According to the press release the Singapore deal is the first to incorporate the training into a curriculum.

Much much slower and only the option to list Today's postings seems to be an improvement though time zones might invalidate this. Last 24/48 hours would be better. Still can't miss looking at the site though.
