Quickies: FilePoint, AppForge Personal Edition, ttools Stylus

Bachmann Sotware is developing a new app named FilePoint. The company is being a bit vague about exactly what it will do. Dan Reuvers from Bachmann said only, "FilePoint will allow Palm OS users the ability to enjoy a level of organization among their growing assortment of resident content that doesn't exist today. Like PrintBoy, FilePoint is intended to be a utility that will enhance Palm users' ability to access their information in an efficient manner." More details should be revealed at PC Expo.

AppForge Personal Edition has been reduced from $70 to $20 from now until the release of their 2.0 version in August. It requires at least Microsoft Visual Basic Working Edition.

ttools has now sold over one million of its flagship product, the ttools Stylus Pen.

Ed could you please try to find out when the floating point stylus going to be released? I would love to know, they have a little quote on their web site that, "Please note: floating•point for Palm m500/ m505 is coming soon." But thats been there for ages. I might just have to get the ttools if they are going to be much longer.

Thanks,

Binks

Here's what David Porfido from Landware just told me:
The floating point for m500 are being manufactured as we speak and I we hope
to have stock available next month.

We have made a few small improvements to the design and this is one of the reasons why the m500 series took a little longer to come through.

You are the greatest, thanks so much for this info. I really appreciate your support and feedback quick, to the point.

No reason to go elsewhere for info.

Thanks again,

If you don't want to wait, there is another option. You can remove the black screw-on top from m505 stylus and put it on the floating point stylus. This makes it fit.

I thought about that but I heard that it really didn't work. I suppose I will wait don't want the 5x to steal sales from the m500 series since it seems like Palm accessory makers are going to need support.

The m505 stylus top works fine on the Landmark - the result fits nicely in the slot. Just don't screw the Landmark top fully into the m505 stylus - the reset pin bends double because it's longer than the one on the m505 top. :-)

I used it for several days and decided I didn't like the feel of the stainless steel (I guess I sweat too much). I then put the Landmark top and bottom on the bottom and top (respectively) of the m505 stylus barrel. I had to cut off the Landmark reset pin, but it's not needed - the stylus tip also works as a reset pin.

The final package has been in heavy use for the past month.

Has anyone who uses this stylus noticed that the tip wears away alarmingly quickly?
