Avvenu Remote File Sharing Service Updated

Avvenu's free remote file access service has just been updated. Specifically optimized for handheld devices, this service gives users fast access to their files, folders and photos stored on a computer, directly from their handheld devices.

Avvenu enables users to securely access their office and home computers directly from their web-enabled mobile device or laptop computer. In addition to accessing their own content, Avvenu users can quickly and securely share access to their content with colleagues, friends and family. Users can access important documents when traveling, share pictures while still on vacation or distribute large files to colleagues – in seconds. All data transfers are encrypted and transmitted using 128-bit SSL and can files access is password protected. Avvenu also intelligently manages the connection to match the device being used. For example, Avvenu’s smart viewing feature scales large files, such as photos, to the right size for fast viewing on mobile devices.

The update includes support for more devices including the Palm Treo 700w, the Motorola Q, SLVR, ROKR, RAZR and V557; and the Danger Hiptop. It also adds a new welcome screen and offers web-enabled mobile Google desktop search.

Avvenu is a free service. It requires a PC running Windows XP with Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2, Professional or Home Edition and a broadband internet connection.
