If you have a working V2 version and a Treo 650, don't upgrade

seansmith @ 11/28/2006 3:19:58 PM # Q
You can check the forums yourself. Opera knows that there is a stability issue and are "working on it." In my experience, every time I try to load Opera 3.0, my phone soft reboots. My old Opera Mini V2 worked just fine.

They have solved this problem now. Made a simple Google search and checked my GroupWise with no problem.

Fantastic work!!!

Resets Treo 680

It resets the Treo 680 right after installation and then when trying to reach any website afterwards. Hopefully there will be a fix soon.

Have you heard anything on a fix for running Opera Mini on the Treo 680? I can't get it to work either. I experimented with all of the settings, but the best I can do is get it to only crash and go back to the menu without resetting my palm.

I sure hope they get this working for the 680 soon!

^^ In order to get Opera Mini working on the 680, you need to adjust your Java settings.

1) Go to Prefs
2) Go to IBM Java VM
3) Choose "Opera Mini" from the drop-down box at the top of the page
4) Check the box: "Use Double Buffering"
5) Check the box: "Use High Resolution Coordinates"
6) Set Memory Maximum at 4mb
7) Set Maximum Java Thread Stack Size at 32kb

It's a shame that this isn't better explained by the Opera folks - they don't even appear to have tested the 680. I had to find this information via their forums.

Anyhoo, it should now work like a charm. Works great for me, apart from the odd crash. The scrolling and back/forward animations are neat.

don't upgrade on a TX

RMW @ 11/29/2006 3:45:55 PM # Q
I installed it. Anytime that I enter a url or click on a link, it crashes the TX. I am using a very recent IBM Java VM.
