Tech Center Labs has kicked off the new year with two new accessories for Palm devices. The first is a mini USB charge cable. This charger is ten inches in length yet quite sturdily constructed. It allows Palm devices to trickle charge from any PC's USB port, even if a Palm USB driver is not installed on the PC. The cable is compatible with all Athena/MultiConnector devices and includes its own plastic carrying pouch. It's available now for $12.95.
TCL's other new product is a Labtec Stereo Headset with integrated boom microphone. This high-quality headset is designed to give stereo audio-out to any Athena/MultiConnector Palm device. This looks to be a good alternative for Treo owners since these devices lack a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack. It also should be a servicable replacement for owners of Palm devices with damaged headset or headphone connectors. The TCL/Labtec headset also requires no drivers or additional power and is a fully plug'n play device. Additionally, the Palm TX and T5 support microphone-in through their MultiConnector ports, so this headset is ideal for owners of these devices who want to use them in VOIP applications. It's available now for $19.95.

Cool gadget twrock !
Kris, Thanks for mentioning our new products! Clarification, although the little charger cable is 'mini' it is a standard USB connector and also will charge as fast as the available current allows. Gary RE: Gary does it again
Gary;
I just started to review this thing last night and I'm quite impressed. In very informal testing of this vs. the Palm official Hotsync cable, yours seems to be charging a bit faster. Congrats again on a great product!
I see the E2 was not mentioned, only the T5 and Tx. Although a 'current' model, does this not work for the E2?
RE: Other models?
Not sure why, but only the T5 and TX recognize an external mic on the MultiConnector. It could be that the others aren't wired internally or something missing in the OS.

RE: Other models?
Yes, the E2 does not have the exact same Athena connector pin-out that the others do. It unfortunately doesn't support audio-in/microphones.
The T5 and TX work fine. The other Palms with Athena/Multi-Connectors are the Treo 650/680/700p/LifeDrive, all of which have internal mics and don't need an external one.
What about charging TX and using this headset? It is possible to plug the power connector in while headset is connected?

It has an integrated mic and a hotsync button and can either trickle charge or suck as much juice as your USB port can provide. Yeah, I'm a geek (that was for you David), but I have fun doing it.
I'm still waiting for the mythical color HandEra.
