Recently I contacted
Ximuoi about their "Pyro for Palm"
mp3 player for the Palm III, and was concerned when I visited their site for some info. Links and Images were invalid, but found out from the webmaster they had changed their name. Now called
PocketPyro, they have updated the website, and added some new images. In addition, sources have indicated possibly as soon as July to start shipping units.

One of the many advantages of the Palm is that no matter how much information you cram into it, it doesn't get any bigger. This encourages many people to cram as much reference material into their Palm as possible to reduce the amount of paper they have to carry around. An excellent example of this is
Noah, a freeware app that allows you to carry a whole dictionary around in your handheld.

Palm's latest licensee is not some big time company, it's supermodel Claudia Schiffer. The new Claudia Schiffer Palm organizer will come in a yet-unannounced color, which will match a line of accessories, cell phones and clothing. The move is part of an upcoming
Claudiaschiffer.com web site that will cater to the "younger, cooler, hipper customer." More on this story at

According to
c|net, Palm confirmed today that production of its handheld computers has slowed due to a shortage of Flash memory and LCD screens. "The cell phone explosion has really hurt our ability to get as many LCDs as we'd like, and we're watching the flash memory too. It's in a bit of tight supply," a Palm representative said.
The shortage is expected to continue for several months. A quick check of the Palm online store shows that almost every kind of Palm is on back order.
Update: A spokeswoman for Handspring said it is experiencing no parts shortages. And Thanks to DJ, for sending in this USA Today article. It mentions that many retailers such as Amazon and Circuit City also have Palm's on back order.

Qualcomm has released the beta version of the
Eudora Internet Suite for the Palm Computing platform. It has three parts: an e-mail app, a conduit to synch with your desktop, and a Web browser. The email app can display HTML, has mail filtering, can fetch only recent messages, and supports Palm address book lookup. The beta version can synch with the Windows version of Eudora while the final version will be able to synch with any MAPI-compliant desktop email client (such as Microsoft Outlook). The browser supports tapping on links, cookies, forms, offline viewing of cached pages, and authentication. The beta, which expires July 4, is free and the final version will be available soon for what the company refers to as a "nominal" charge.
