GoAmerica, reseller of the Minstrel III wireless modem for the Palm III series, has
announced that they will be releasing a Handspring module wireless modem for the Visor in the third quarter of this year. No price for the modem was mentioned but the service currently costs $49.95 a month for unlimited usage.
While we're on the subject, GoAmerica is offering the
Minstrel III for $99 when a year-long service contract is signed.

The much anticipated 1st person shooter game,
Dreadling, has been released. There is a shareware demo to try out and the full version comes with a level editor for $19.98. It incorporates a 3D ray casting engine which can perform 4 level grayscale texture mapping and doors. 3Com has finally
released the schedule for their plan to distribute Palm stock to people who own 3Com stock. 3Com shareholders of record on July 11 will receive about 1.5 shares of Palm stock for each share of 3Com held on July 27. 3Com shareholders will receive Palm stock valued at $48.38, based on Palm's closing price of $32.25 yesterday.

Qvadis and MemoWare have combined their libraries of free books to form what is currently the largest archive of free Palm e-texts on the Web. The newly expanded
Qvadis library has over 2,600 free titles. Qvadis is the maker of the popular
Express Reader but there are several
free doc readers that can access all the e-texts in the Qvadis Library.

AvantGo, Inc., has
announced that it is making a version of its development and hosting tools for larger companies accessible on-line. AvantGo Enterprise Online is the first hosted, Internet-based service for making applications and content available to handheld users. It is intended for use by corporations and independent software vendors. They also announced that UpShot.com, My Docs Online! and LiveConsultant.com will be using the new service.

The "convergence" of television and computers has been the elusive goal of Silicon Valley and Hollywood. But it has been happening recently right under their noses. The only company positioned to take advantage of this is Palm Computing. Just as Regis Philbin saved ABC-TV, Peter Tomarken can help save Palm Computing and make all of us want to indulge in some "Paranoia"!

Silver Screen is a replacement app launcher for the Palm OS, and a darn good one at that. Several programs including Handscape have seen shortfalls in Palm's Operating System and took it upon themselves to improve and replace it. What Silver Screen has which all the others don't is style.

Palm CEO Carl Yankowski
said that instant messaging will be "the next killer application" for Palm users. Palm Inc. is developing technology that will allow "real-time" messages to be sent between Palm handhelds and between Palms and desktop computers. Mr. Yankowski didn't give an estimated release date or indicate if they would use a third-part IM app, like America Online's AIM.

Halo Data Devices has created the world's smallest hard disk drive that is a Type 1 compact flash card. The Halo microdrive is a miniscule 3.3mm weighing in at 10 grams and holds 250MB of data. It is not yet available but should work in the TRGPro.
Symbol has developed a
barcode scanning module for the Visor.
