Comments on: FCC Docs Suggest a North American GSM Pre 2

As of right now, the only North American carrier specifically planning to offer a Pre 2 is Verizon Wireless, though the official HP/Palm Pre 2 announcement did reveal an unspecified Canadian carrier would carry the device at some point in the future.

Thanks to some clever sleuthing by Engadget, another possible upcoming Pre 2 variant has been revealed via the usual FCC certification documents. The P102UNA, an AT&T-compatible (but not T-Mobile, sadly) 3G GSM/UMTS handset has been certified, alongside the existing CDMA EVDO version.

Furthermore, another story from PreCentral reports that Palm's Canadian page has some commented-out HTML code suggesting that "Rodger's network" (sp) and "AT&T network" could be future homes for the Pre 2 in addition to Verizon.

Bring It I Say

LiveFaith @ 10/22/2010 11:00:31 PM # Q
Not an earth shaking device, but a worthy device nonetheless. My ATT Pre + has been a yerrific device.

After all the Preware upgrades, I basically already have a Pre II. Those guys in the homebrew community are great. But, this Pre II + WebOS v2 raises the bar from a speed and functionality perspective.

More importantly, it gives the homebrew community another bar to achieve. Having a 1.75ghz highly customizable Pre makes me consider an upgrade. Consider, but not in a hurry like getting the Pre +.

Would rather have a 4" or > screened tablet FF with a better battery and an upgraded organization suite,

Are they finally going to give devs access to the microphone? Other than VZW Skype of course,

Insecurity due to not being in the center of the mainstream herd is a sign of weakness. Being confident in who one is without the crutch of conformity is a sign of strength.

Sort of like WebOS. The new Think Different.

Classic for Pre

richf @ 10/25/2010 2:32:07 PM # Q
Read early today MotionApps turned over the source code for Classic to Palm for whatever they want to do with it. Slight problem of removal of some code that made Classic work in WebOS 2. So I went to the app store and sure enough it is there for free. Haven't had enough time to really get into it. It is speedy but no stylus is a handicap as far as I'm concerned. Here's hoping Palm will find a way to include with WebOS 2 but I'm not holding my breath. A thirty dollar app that is now free. Capitalism at its finest.

Thought I'd add a link to the MotionApps announcement. No love lost here. Sounds kinda bitter if you ask for my opinion. Read here ...http://www.motionapps.com/

do you also pine for an Atari 2600 emulator for your Nintendo Wii/XBox/PS3??????? how about MS DOS or Lotus 123 for your new 2010 PC??????

why on earth are you pining for 15+ year old primitive apps that have been replaced and superseded by today's far superior technology and applications?????? and don't tell me they are irreplaceable. any worthy PalmOS app has been replaced by a far more powerful, beautiful, capable Android or iPhone app. what PalmOS app is so critical and irreplaceable?

let go of the past. let go of the nostalgia and turn the air conditioning on.

>>>>>Palm's way of supporting MotionApps has become too disruptive for us and we no longer believe that we are in a position to provide our customers with the best product and service. Our work is who we are so we respectfully choose to exit.

Politically correct way to say 'Screw You Palm'. I think Palm management has now alienated the last of their loyal developers, good work guys!

so that's Dataviz, TealPoint, and now MotionApps that they managed to totally piss off. your boy Ruby really did his homework on this one. no wonder he had the shortest executive career since that Pope that got poisoned.

Classic for Pre would just be incredible. Palm now owns it. I would bw completely surprised if they did anything with it bacause that would make sense and possibly bring the legions that left back in. If I know anything about Palm, it's that they cannot do anything that makes sense. If they did, it would be released tortuously slowly and it would take several revs to get it right. The Palm loyalists would have been far better off if it fell into Dmitri's hands.

Evidence for your point of view

Look, at this interesting read. There's fodder for your point of view no matter what it may be. I presume the Android boys will be really pleased.
Remember I didn't write this I just guided you there. Bottom line don't kill the messenger.
