Comments on: Palm's Future in the Clouds Editorial
Grassia's piece begins with the suggestion that Palm may attempt to capture an Apple-sized bit of the online software market with a new Software Connection storefront, whether or not the new PocketGear management is onboard with Palm or not. With the arrival of nearly ubiquitous wireless 2.5G & 3G connectivity, as well as a more robust future version of the Palm OS, Palm may feel that the time is ripe to transition from a Hotsync-based software installations to OTA downloads and installers.

CLOUD COMPUTING is the Opportunity
Palm - think outside of the commoditized hardware device. build a BETTER "mobileme.com" for your Palm users and more customers will follow.........
Apple's missteps = your opportunity. but time is running out and your window is closing.

PalmSync
Gekko @ 7/10/2008 9:51:20 AM #
a "PalmSync" service would have been nice. similiar to GoogleSync, allowing you to wirelessly sync your Centro/Treo PIM data to an online "Palm Desktop". i was free from the sync cable for a few years and i'm not yet fully comfortable going back to one.
thoughts?

RE: CLOUD COMPUTING is the Opportunity
I read somewhere that some ex-Palmer looked at the iPhone and said a lot of the stuff it had was what Palm was at one time planning - App Store, mobileme, for two.
As I think we all know by now, Palm tends to have Corporate ADD.

IBM makes mobile push

IBM makes mobile push
The Palm 800w, carried on the Sprint network, is among the smartphones getting new functions in IBM's latest mobile push.
When it comes to big-business technology, you could argue it's not a party until IBM shows up. Not only is Big Blue the top seller of business software, its services division is also the biggest global provider of hands-on tech advice. So when IBM (IBM) makes big mobile announcement, it's worth a listen.
