This application takes FOREVER to "initialize" every time you run it. Nice try though.
RE: Paging Apple Legal
Nah, I don't believe Apple invented it and, to a degree, you have always been able to do this on Palm OS devices. It isn't difficult in a table or gadget object to detect a swoosh and then issue a PgUp or PgDn, depending on the direction. The only thing you can't do on a Palm OS touch screen is the multi-touch gestures, but the price Apple pay for that is the loss of the accuracy you get with the stylus and inability to support related issues such as cut-and-paste. It is so easy to support single finger gestures, you could wonder why Palm didn't implement it already. RE: Paging Apple Legal
Why not? Simple--the same reason why Palm has failed to implented 99.9% of the things their users are asking for: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$!
RE: Paging Apple Legal
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$??? LOL! Palm has been perfectly good at wasting money on name, logo, management changes; selling their OS away; writing multiple unused OS's; etc. over the past 6-7 years. Based on that, the real reason is that they've been too busy padding executive and stockholders pockets to innovate and implement this stuff. RE: Paging Apple Legal
Everything you listed above are business and management blunders. Basically, people with business degrees, who don't actually know what they are doing, have been running the company for so long. Zero focus on actual engineering. RE: Paging Apple Legal
Don't forget severe penny-pinching by those "suits" which was the point of my $$$$$$$ comment earlier. Case in point: -Treos having constantly shrinking LCD & keyboard sizes, going backwards to smaller capacity, less compatible memory card formats and regressing to lower battery capacities from one generation to the next. Let's hope that the 500v doesn't start a new Trend of Treos omitting the ring/mute switch on top of the device! -The PDA line having smaller capacity batteries and slower CPUs and losing features (vibrate alarm, metal cases, bundled Hotsync cradles, voice recorder, charge LEDs) from one model generation to the next
RE: Paging Apple Legal
Of course they've been cutting things out. You expect them to line their wallets with year-end bonuses that have been actually *earned* for providing innovation and new features? If Palm was a diseased body, it'd just keep cutting off parts of itself instead of *curing* itself.
Interesting idea. Would be nice if we could view phone lists by categories. Might help to speed up the initialization time.

The problem with this app and other third party apps that try to enhance the use of the phone is the lack of integration. I downloaded it and it's cool, but a novelty. Why in earth would I hit my "home" key, then search for the "treobble" app and then wait for it to initialize and then scroll through my million contacts when I can just hit my "phone" button once, which is assigned to "takephone" and then immediately type the first few letters of the contact I am lookin for, and it appear? RE: The problem with this app...doublebullout @ 11/27/2007 6:09:19 PM #
Of course you wouldn't want to launch Treobble from the regular Palm app launcher. Instead, you'd map the top left hand quick launch button in the Phone app to Treobble instead of "Contacts". (It's not that hard.) RE: The problem with this app...
The other problem, of course, is that find-as-you-type is about six trillion times faster than this method. Why would you bother scrolling through an endless list of dozens - maybe hundreds - of contacts when you can just whack in a couple of letters and bring it up instantly? Nice effort, but I'm not sure I see the point... RE: The problem with this app...doublebullout @ 11/28/2007 10:04:51 AM #
It supports typing to search. Type "M" and it jumps down to the start of the "M"s, for example.
Wow, this so does not work like the iPhone! I'm not even sure if it's working at all since every time I try to make the list scroll with my finger not much happens. Get that Linux Treo out soon and it better be good!
Downloaded, installed and agree....takes way to long to initialize....I could have a coffee and maybe then it would be ready for use. Scrolling is smooth but again, it only reckonizes the first letter.
