I think that palm should have taken the guts of a z22 and made this phone. If they sold it for 300.00USD un-subsidized, it would more than cover the cost of the cellular radio and the keypad. IMHO, it would have gone over very well with people who want a slightly smarter phone, but they could cut the RAM or otherwise differentiate it from a treo (less quality screen, etc). What's done is done, but given the success of winmob phones that were sold through cingular and t-mobile indicates there's a market for them (maybe not a huge one, i don't know the exact figures, but the fact that the carriers are offering them, and consistently updating, means they're clearly getting SOMETHING from it.) Bah. RE: Nice, Wish For A Price Though
Hi, Theo Poon had a quote: 359$... Dont ask me where he had the figure from, but the idea sounds good! They gotta face the HiRes Treo Lowrider sooner than later anyways... Best regards RE: Nice, Wish For A Price Though
Nice. Might be time to ditch the treo series due to lack of development. RE: Nice, Wish For A Price Though
Hi,
to be honest, my 600 is already very very good... The full keyboard really is worth it! Best regards
RE: Ram?
GSPDA's specs don't mention the ram and there hasn't been a formal press release, so I can't say. RE: Ram?
Their past models have had a weird split in memory with some dedicated as storage space (like the T5's internal drive) at around 32MB, this I would think at 64ish; and then user/program RAM around 32MB (23~) with half of that being CJKOS (Chinese language stuff).
If you do get one of these to play with Ryan, please have them quote you a price.
They say it has "Video Caller Display". I have NO idea what that would be on a non-3G GSM phone. Handspring Visor -> m505 -> Zire71 -> Zire72 -> Treo650 RE: Video caller ?!??
I think it means it can play a specified or pre-recorded video file when a caller calls in.

I went to GSPDA's web site http://www.gspda.com to check out M70 but did not find M70, instead saw Jasper S20 running on JAVA http://www.gspda.com/product_1.htm Does anybody have more information know about this model, and the SAVAJE? RE: GSPDA and SAVAJE
SavaJe has been around for quite a while but they released a reference phone running their all-Java platform just this year. That's the Jasper s20 you saw. They sold a bunch of them to developers attending the JavaOne conference this summer: http://www.savaje.com/press_release_20060511.html
The consensus feeling I got from developers who bought one was that it's not quite ready for primetime, but there's a lot of enthusiasm about the advanced Java language APIs, which go well beyond what people usually think of when they think J2ME. SavaJe is a player to watch... but then they have been for a while and we haven't seen much come from them to date.
Thick as a brick.
But very small in the other 2 dimensions. I could see buying one instead of a 700p if specs are comparable. Big question is when (if) any carriers will let me have one. Would/could Palm muscle the carriers into not offering it?
