Deal or eye-poppingly bad color design?

I'll give everyone 10 seconds to figure out what absurdly popular television game show this attempts to emulate. :)

i like metal too.

What to do? Vote, then let those that want metal choose metal. Faith helps forgiveness which will help us offer more choices.

i cannot take what is not mine as agreed. In a civilized society we offer capital choices. People choose what they want by placing some value on peace and much on assuring peace is more profitable.

A good crew does not work entirely for nothing. Peace is something that allows people to put food on the table for all families.

Peace,

Ben;

Go ahead and lay it on me. I don't watch anything on TV other than the news.

Is it one of the Price is Right guessing games?

Despite the garish color scheme, it's actually quite a fun little game. Certainly easier to sit down and play for five minutes than the Lunar Lander Simulator!

Hi guys!

I am the developer of "Blue Diamond". Thank you so much for the taking the time and your comments. In regards to the color scheme, I have to admit I am not too thrill either! I had to work with the developement tool (no the color choice but for instance that all the buttons have to be the same color). I am also limited by my "design" ability in judging what color goes with other color. So here my question to you guys: What color scheme do you think I can use to be less offensive to the eye (or at least to some eyes!)?

Bad or good color, I am really hoping you will take the time and check out the game for yourself.

As with my other game,Lunar lander Simulator, I am really open to suggestions/comments that potentially can make the game even better. Small developers like me cannot affort to do this things in a vacuum (as shown in my poor choice of the color scheme ah ah ha!).

Thank you for your support.

Enjoy the game!

Mo.

What tool are you using? For something like this, doing custom graphics buttons would likely be a better choice than using the stock Palm OS controls.

Graphically, I've really like the choices made by Astraware in most of their games. Having dark or light backgrounds where there's good contrast helps a lot.

If you're doing something that doesn't match the standard system theme, make it look completely different is my personal rule. Don't be afraid to define your own control behavior for a game title.

Thanks bcombee,

I agree! I am using HB++ (by the way a great tool for beginner like me and pro as well). I am in the learning mode about custom buttons (UC buttons) and I should be able to modify my game looks very soon. I was a little constraint (only because I am still learning the tool) on buttons colors and background but as I learn more about what can be done, you will some changes in future versions.

I too like Astraware (especially Warfare inc!). I will look into their colors schemes. I am sure I will learn a great deal on what to do (and not to do!) Thanks for the tip and taking the time.

Take care.

Mo.

Mo et al;

Warfare Inc. actually was programmed by Spiffcode and published by Handmark. I think Astraware just sells it on their online store as a cross-publishing or cross-marketing deal with Handmark.

As an example of fantastic presentation and whatnot, look at Astraware's recent StarPop "game". Crazy Daisy is also an excellent looking title and has a very colorful, user-friendly look and feel to it.

Astrware are without a doubt releasing the most polished and professional looking titles on the Palm OS right now, especially when it comes to supporting multiple screen reolutions natively and having attractive in-game menus and title screens. While there are some very graphically impressive titles out there from other developers such as Raging Thunder, Sky Force etc. they are usually cross-platform and suffer from clunky menus, overly small text, no 320*480 support. Astraware still pay particular attention to their POS audience and it shows in spades.
