not enough to going on in palm community. Sad to see. Congratulations, Ryan
The new site looks like it's going to be a very nice addition to your growing Internet empire! :-) David Beers Pikesoft Mobile Computing www.pikesoft.com/blog RE: PICs not putting all your eggs in one basketSeldomVisitor @ 12/7/2006 6:37:12 AM #
As implied by the first post of this thread, the new site gets sufficiently far enough away from any OS to stay around when the OS doesn't... [and that "bought back PalmOS sort of" article doesn't suggest at ALL that PalmOS isn't going to be one of the first to go away...] Congrats Ryan
While I am not a fan of all the user work that goes into Digg-like websites, what you have is nice and refreshing. Many blessings to you on it.

Can't blame you for planning an exit strategy for Palminfocenter, Ryan. A cross between Gizmodo, Infosync and Palminfocenter might have the legs to survive in a web already super-saturated with technology sites, but only if the site offers something readers can't find elsewhere. It would be a shame to see Palminfocenter go the way of PalmStation, PDA Buzz, Brighthand, etc. It might be useful to have a page listing the (arbitrary) "Top Ten" products in every major consumer electronics category, including specs, prices, +/- links to reviews. Here's a few categories you could include: - Pocket digital cameras Having a simple, easy to read "expert" summary of the best gear out there would help people shopping in each of those categories and could help drive traffic to the site. Unfortunately, contests don't seem to attract the kind of people who are willing to stay and contribute to a site beyond the length of time the contest runs.
RE: Yet another sign the end of Palm is near...
PalmInfocenter will continue on as always.
MobilityBeats's aim is to compliment other mobile and tech sites and provide a new community driven place for mobile enthusiasts. Voice if there is anything you want to see covered on this site you can send it in yourself. It's an open site for anyone to author.
To celebrate the launch, the site is giving away a new Treo 680 to any user that posts an article during the next month. Ryan, are you sure that's the way you want to say that? Sounds like you are going to need to pick up a whole lot of Treo 680's. :-) RE: It's that easy to get a free Treo 680?!!
whoops thanks Ron, that wasn't what I meant to say. If you send in a new article you get entered in the drawing for a new Treo 680 :) I should point out it only takes 10 seconds to signup, and maybe another minute to find a post a article. It's a pretty quick and easy process. RE: It's that easy to get a free Treo 680?!!
All Ryan's Treo 680 are belong to us!!

Someone somewhere posted a link to a site (ala letstalk.com) where you can get TREO 680s for free for real, no contest required. Of COURSE you need a two-year Cingular contract. But don't you need a Cingular contract with the contest TREO 680, too? RE: It's that easy to get a free Treo 680?!!SeldomVisitor @ 12/7/2006 4:56:29 PM #
Ah - I see that TreoCentral itself has the free TREO 680s:
