Comments on: Palm Making a European Announcement Soon?

Rumor: A couple of new reports from the other side of the Atlantic seen to indicate that Palm may be getting ready to make some kind of announcement next week. The UK newspaper, the Guardian, is reporting that Palm will confirm that it has signed a deal with O2 to sell the Palm Pre smartphone in the UK. Brit gadget site T3 separately claims the official word could come as soon as next week as well.

This is the latest report to confirm earlier rumors from March and May that indicated that Telefónica and its brands O2 and Movistar would exclusively offer the Pre in Europe.

Amen to that - I live in Denmark and would very much like an unlucked Pre.
I have been dreaming about this unit for a couple of years but lately I have been taking a peek at the new Iphone...
Palm hurry up or you will loose one of your best users...

The time of the announcement has nothing to do with the time of release... Pelephone announced that it will be the exclusive provider of the Palm Pre back in February ( http://www.pelephone.co.il/press.aspx?token=&iPageId=2677 )

Palm = Crazy to go with O2

If Palm go with O2 exclusively with the Pre, they might as well never ship the device in Europe. It will be like the console wars of old - go into a shop and all the assistants will be able to talk about is the iPhone. The Pre will get left on the shelf as consumer after cinsumer is persuaded they really want the iPhone - 'coz it's betterer' The Pre will go the way of the Sega Dreamcast if the go exclusively with O2 - their best option is to put it on every network and go for market saturation.
