JunglePort for the Urban Jungle

Posted By: Ed on Thursday, July 20, 2000 10:24:56 AM

A beta version of the JunglePort.com portal for Palm is now available. JunglePort is free and offers maps, personalized dining guides, and personalized yellow pages with up to 3,000 entries. To use it, the JunglePort client, which uses vector-based mapping technology, must be on the device. The beta has content for Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York.

JungleMap will allow you to search by street address, intersection, point of interest - or automatically find an entry in your address book.

The Dining Guide lets you search by name, cuisine, neighborhood, price, rating, and/or keyword. It supports thousands of restaurant listings and integrates with JungleMap.

The Yellow Pages lets you search by name, category, location and/or keyword and also integrates with JungleMap.

JungleSoft says it will offer an application programming interface (API) for its mapping technology to PalmOS developers. That will allow third-party developers to use the company's mapping engine.
