ReadySyncGo! to Provide Free Synchronization Service

Synchrologic announced today ReadySyncGo!, a free synchronization service powered by the company's new ReadySyncGo! Enterprise product. In its initial release, ReadySyncGo! will synchronize PIM information between Microsoft Outlook on multiple Windows-based PCs and laptops, and also with Palm OS handhelds including the Palm VII or Handspring Visor. The Web-based application will work with your Web browser to provide anywhere access to data.

In addition, ReadySyncGo! seeks out information based on your plans. Travel, Weather, Flight, Maps, Local News, and other valuable content is tailored to your travel and appointment plans, and added to your personal master database. This added useful information is available from a Web browser, and is also downloaded to your devices when you synchronize.

For example, based on a calendar entry, ReadySyncGo! will automatically generate driving directions from the airport to your appointment. The full itinerary for the trip, including hotel, air, and car reservations with confirmation numbers will be synchronized and available on any device at any time, along with the current weather and forecast. Personalized alerts, such as flight delays and meeting reminders, are also pushed to select devices.

ReadySyncGo! features full wireless phone support including the ability to instantly access your full contact list and calendar from any wireless web phone using WAP. Finally, wireless phones and pagers will benefit from personalized alerts and messaging capabilities based on the Short Message Service (SMS).

Vapor Palmware (Vapalm)

I.M. Anonymous @ 9/13/2000 8:11:07 AM #
More vaporware. I challenge Palminfocenter and Palmstation to stop cluttering the airwaves with each piece of vaporware that pops up. It's getting worse than Slashdot. There is absolutely no substance to this press release and their Web site is even less helpful. I think that those who run PalmInfocenter have enough clout to ask these companies for more. They get free press and if your marketing people can spin out a press release, then your technical people can put together a white paper.

What is so different about this announcement than what is offered by Truesync (yahoo), Anyday, and Fusionone? All of which don't work.

I agree. This sounded interesting until I linked to the company's website and discovered there is nothing to it -- at the moment, anyway. This sort of story should be filed under a special "On the Horizon?" category or PalmInfoCenter's credibility will continue to be undermined.

RE: How You Can Help

Whenever new software isn't available yet, I always try to give a release date. Sometimes, in the very short time I have to post a news article, I miss a detail like you can't register yet, you can only pre-register. Sorry.

This brings up an important point. It would be really nice if more people contributed news articles. I have a job that actually pays money so most of the news posted to Palm Infocenter is done before work, during my coffee break, or lunch. This doesn't leave me a lot of time to research the stuff I post in depth. The best thing you can do to improve this site is pitch in and help.

If you look over in the right hand column you will see a link labeled "Contribute". Click on it and you will be taken to a form where you can put in the news about the Palm or Palm-related items you discover around the Web.

Please use it to contribute whole news stories, the sort of things you are used to seeing on Palm Infocenter. I hope it isn't necessary to ask you to not abuse this and flood us with "news" that is basically advertisements for your own products.

I hope to hear from you soon!
