Wireless Voice and Data to Drive Explosive Palmtop Market

According to a report released this week by market researcher Cahners In-Stat Group, shipments of handheld computers, including both Palm and Pocket PC, will grow an average of 28% per year through 2004. "Wireless data communications is the key feature driving this explosive market," says Robyn Bergeron, In-Stat's e-Business Computing Infrastructure Analyst. "Internet connectivity, coupled with audio applications such as MP3 capability, will push the mobile computing device market to record shipment levels."

The report also predicts that Palm Inc.'s market share will erode from 72% in 1999 to 65% in 2000 as Handspring and Windows CE palmtops make gains.

The full text of the report, Mobile Computing Devices: A New Era in Personal Computing, is available for a mere $2,995 USD.

However, are they nuts at that price. as a librarian I have great respect for research and all the cost involved. However, how many copies are they going to sell? 1 to each manufacturer of a PDA. Well it's not like it's a hot video or book so there will be no bootleg copies
