ePhysician Releases Integrated Wireless Suite

ePhysician has unveiled a product suite for physicians that merges electronic prescribing, objective drug reference, scheduling and charge capture. A new charge capture product, Superbill, integrates with an enhanced version of ePad, ePhysician's e-prescribing application, and A to Z Drug Facts with Facts and Comparisons for objective drug reference.

The suite's new charge capture application, Superbill, allows physicians to enter billing codes for diagnoses, office visits, procedures, and supplies directly into a hand-held device during or after each patient visit, improving billing accuracy.

During patient visits or away from the clinic, physicians can use ePad to write and send prescriptions in seconds via the Internet to a patient's choice of pharmacy. Now fully integrated, ePhysician's products let physicians view reliable drug information while prescribing and also capture patient charges using one handheld device.

The suite's drug reference component, A to Z Drug Facts with Facts and Comparisons, is the health care industry's most widely used and trusted source of unbiased drug information. This product provides physicians with real-time, wireless access to drug information and is tightly integrated into the prescribing that occurs with ePad. The product includes information about 3,000 drugs and 26 therapeutic classes, which are searchable by indications, contraindications and warnings as well as drug-to-drug interactions and adverse reactions. Physicians can also view detailed dosing information, lab interferences and drug mechanisms of action.

ePhysician clinical services are compatible with hand-held devices that run on Palm OS 3.1 or higher. ePad is available for $20/month. A to Z Drug Facts with Facts and Comparisons, with a retail value of $60, is currently available either integrated with ePad or as a free download. For a limited time, Superbill is available as a free trial with a subscription to ePad until April 1, 2001. Thereafter, the price for Superbill is $14.95/month.
