Adventure On Your Palm with Ludigames

If you liked those "Choose Your Own Adventure" books that were popular in the 80s, then you should be really excited by a new AvantGo channel, Ludigames. It offers more than 25 episodes in 3 languages (English, French, German). Each time you complete a chapter, the next one will be downloaded on your subsequent HotSync. The service is free but the chapters, being made up of numerous pages each with at least one graphic, are unusually large for AvantGo channels.

Cute

I think it's a pretty cool idea, but the writing leaves something to be desired. It will be interesting to see where they go with it. The size is a bit of a problem, but that's probably unavoidable since it's the result of being a "choose your own adventure" that has to have so many different branches of the story.

I agree. The idea is great, and I jumped at the chance to check it out. As most men will, I tried out the "mature" story. Though I found the overall design of the channel pretty well done, and the graphics nice (sometimes cartoony and humorous), the story does, as Nate said, leave something to be desired. Acatuall... it leaves a LOT to be desired. And, to add insult to injury, there seems to be only ONE path to the next story. Readers are left trying over and over and over to find the right path, quickly tiring of it's poorly done plot-lines and just becoming frustrated. If they allowed more than one specific path to proceed, it might be more fun than annoying.

I still like the idea, though, and might check out some of the other stories. I'd prefer that someone with a background in these kinds of stories were to write some of them, though.

not that much fun

although the pages are well made, the stories are kinda boring. it's a good idea though. in time there'll probably be better games out.

If Choose Your Own Adventure is too limited for you, try Text Adventures--http://www.interactfiction.about.com/games/interactfiction/cs/palms/ I've been playing Zork and Colossal Cave, plus loads of new adventures created recently!
