Palm Trademarks 'Phone Stick'

On January 3, 2001, Palm, Inc. applied for a trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the mark "Phone Stick." You can find this by searching the Trademark database called TESS on the government's web site at www.uspto.gov. The description of what this mark will be used for is "Wireless voice accessories for handheld computers".

Could this be an SD card phone module?

A Naming Convention?

We know Palm are going to be making at least some SD modules. That was made clear a few weeks ago when we found that that Palm was talking to Taiwanese factory-owners about places to make them.

I wonder if this is an indication of the names of all of Palm's SD modules? Like, will there be a Modem Stick, a Camera Stick, etc. made by Palm?

Sounds a lot like "Memory Stick". If there isn't a lawsuit from Sony then it's a good naming convention. Is this a competitor for the Visor Phone?

I can't imagine Sony not sueing. especially if Palm tries to create a line of these. phonestick, GPSstick, etc...what do you then call the one with extra memory?

The "RAMStick"?? Of course, then somebody in the Adult Toy industry would probably have a lawsuit with Palm. Either way, it could be a no win situation on the memory. :-)

Phone Stick could refer to a wireless headset in the shape of a stick. One end goes in your ear & the other end places a microphone close to your mouth, perhaps?
