eBooks: Qvadis and Fictionwise Team Up

Posted By: Ed on Thursday, March 15, 2001 8:34:39 AM

Qvadis, developer of the Express Reader and Fictionwise.com, a digital publisher, have announced that they will be working more closely together.

Fictionwise novel and short story samplers will be bundled in select Qvadis ebook reader applications, and Fictionwise titles will be sold on the Qvadis website. In addition, Qvadis Express Reader becomes Fictionwise's recommended Palm ebook viewer.

"We're very excited to be working with Fictionwise," said Sam Peralta, CEO of Qvadis. "Our relationship links two companies with complementary strengths - Qvadis in ebook reader software and Fictionwise in quality ebook content - and a common vision, to help build the Palm ebook community."

Fictionwise.com has recently released “Ninety Percent of Everything” by Jonathan Lethem, James Patrick Kelly, and John Kessel as an eBook. The story is available for free. The novella length work is on the final ballot for the 2001 Nebula Awards.

It is available for free to registered Fictionwise.com members (registration is free) until April 30, 2001. To find the story, go to the “Specials” area on the right-hand side of Fictionwise.com.

Fictionwise also offers the following Nebula 2001 Final ballot stories for free: “Argonautica” and “Daddy’s World” by Walter Jon Williams, and “A Knight of Ghosts and Shadows” by Gardner Dozois.

Fictionwise also offers two Nebula 2001 Final Ballot stories for sale, including: “Hunting the Snark” by Mike Resnick, and “Scherzo With Tyrannosaur” by Michael Swanwick. Both of these stories were also Hugo Award nominees last year. (The Swanwick story won the Hugo Award for Best Short Story in 2000.)
