Quickies: OS 3.5.3, Launcher III v2.3, CodeWarriorU, PhoneMate

Palm has released an OS 3.5.3 update . This patch resolves low-level system issues that might cause certain third party apps to not function as intended. It addresses a flow control problem and a dynamic UI pointer issue. Palm recommends installing this on any Palm running a version of OS 3.5. -Christian Elkjer

Launcher III v2.3 will have added support for memory cards and memory sticks, according to the author. It eliminates the need to use both PowerRun and MSMount. It is in beta now. -Roger

CodeWarriorU, the online training arm of MetroWerks (who develop the CodeWarrior family of tools), is offering a free course on Palm programming in C/C++ starting this July 5. See their site for more details. -Eric Giguere

MobiMate is sponsoring a contest to see who can best asnswer the question "Name at least two reasons why PhoneMate's lookup is better than the built-in Address book. " On July 16, fifty winners will be drawn from all correct submissions. -Ramel Levin

Sorry, I shortened Roger's comments and I accidentally cut out the fact that it is still in beta. It was implied but not stated. Anyway, I edited the article to make this more clear.

Sorry for any confusion.

As far as I know, OS 4.0 is coming up. So I will suggest you just wait for the OS 4.0 update.

No. I got an error that the update was not compatable with my device and that I should contact the manufacturer. Then it prompted me to delete the file.

Dude, it's huge!

wayne @ 6/27/2001 6:30:32 PM #
The OS update is 135k. Since I only have 2 megs on my Palm V, I'm definitely not adding this unless proven essential.

Does anyone know specifically what this update does? Like what programs need this?

RE: Dude, it's NOT huge!
I.M. Anonymous @ 6/27/2001 6:38:28 PM #
135 k is just to install the update. Once it is installed, you can delete the installer prc and kepp the update on the palm.

The update itself is 26k...

The current version of Launcher III works just fine with BackupbuddyVFS. I've been using the two for months with no problems at all. Launcher III is a great package.

It's the new version, currently in beta that I was enquiring. In the statement at the top of the page, MsMount was mentioned, and this is certainly not BBVFS compatible.

Bright 505 3.5

3.5 updated...but still no control of 505 brightness. Is this possible or not, Palm?

I doubt it or Palm would have released it when they released their version of glow hack.
