Hmm...

It still strikes me as too much, asking for $250 for the m125.

Great news on iSilo though, it's about time!

It is good news about iSilo, I'll have to check it out. I agree about the price of the m125, I just bought an m105 for my wife last night, as she had out grown her IIIe. We got a free keyboard in the deal (after rebate, of course), which made the $199 price easier to take, but I might have looked hard at the m125 if it was available, just because of the slot. Not having a third type of cradle would be nice too.
The m500 was simply out our price range.

It's great ! Support hires, pics up to 16 bit colors, HTML/CSS/Tables. Now the webs looks same as in Internet Explorer on the desktop. It's still very slow, but very usefull. Docs can be read directly from the card. iSilo guys I thought you already aslept but...you did good job !

RE: iSilo 3.0 really damn rulez - How Slow?

I am looking forward to the upgrade. I don't use PalmReader because it is so slow.

For those of you who are using the iSilo 3 beta are you finding slower than PalmReader?

After the Address and Datebook, iSilo has been my most important program. Just upgraded and it is awsome. I don't find it slow at all. I have the same file in RAM and on MMC and can barely tell the difference with regard to speed. I have been using MSMount for all my iSilo files and that had been reasonably (but acceptably) slow. This is a tremendous improvement.
Can't wait to make some references with iSiloX. For me, table support was the other must have.

I have found that the Page Up and Page Down functions
are indeed slow. They now take about 0.8 seconds,
up from 0.25 seconds of version 2.58. I obtained these
timings by holding down the Up and Down arrows for
5 seconds, then counting how many pages were advanced.
It is screem recalculation and redraw which takes so
long. And these times are on the fastest PalmOS device
available -- HandEra 330 (268% with bnchmark).

I haven't downloaded iSilo 3.0 yet, but do see one disadvantage over the 2.x versions, that of program size. Version 2.x is approx. 80k, whereas 3.0 is over 300k. Unfortunately this increase in program size is a common (and probably unavoidable) fact these days. I guess at some point I'm going to have to upgrade to a Palm, Handspring, etc. with expansion cards. Oh well . . .

I have downloaded the "internal medicine consult" a compendium of medical isilo "books" which is 4mb in size. I have it on the memory stick and sure enough the iSilo 3.0b found it and was able to open it but MAN IS IT SLOW. It is so slow that it is pretty much unusable. It takes 10 seconds to scroll down a page and nearly a minute to go to another portion of the book. Search function on a program is pretty much useless as well. Forget about the index function. Maybe it is fast enough on small isilo files but it cannot handle this 4MB monster. I hope the speed can pick up.

I haven't had any speed troubles with the Washington Manual (1 MB). Haven't tried anything as large as 4 MB though.

M125 (And Jornada 565)

EvanCG @ 9/6/2001 11:41:03 PM #
The Jornada 565 and the Palm M125 are already in the computer system at Office Depot.

$599.99 and $249.99. None of the warehouses have them in stock anywhere yet, but they're there.
