$365 N760C

I.M. Anonymous @ 10/9/2001 7:50:53 AM #
When does the coupon expire? Can we find out? It seems like a great opportunity to sell my m505 and accessories with almost no loss for dpreciation.

According to the details link that comes up when you put in the coupon code, this code is good on any software or peripherals over $400. In other words, you might be able to use this to knock $100 of a m505, which is currently listed on Dell's site for $444.95. $344.95 for an m505: anyone know if this would be a good deal, or can you pick up 505's just as cheap from other places by now?

Add the item to your cart. When you go to checkout there is a link to "Add a Coupon".

I have gone through buying the Sony several times AND at no time has a coupon section (to input coupon) been visible on any of the pages. Someone point me to the section of the page that has it? Is it after I hit submit order (hope not, this means I a submitting the order, I don't want to buy at the higher price).

Help??

When you click on the Add to Cart button, you get a screen which lists the regular price of the Sony, and generally looks like an invoice or something. Next to the Subtotal is a Add Coupon link, that's what you need to click on.

Thank you everyone...it did not work for me at first but I told the salesperson about the offer/promotion and I was able to still get the discount. :-)

THE DISCOUNT COUPON DOES NOT WORK

I.M. Anonymous @ 10/9/2001 5:34:00 PM #
I called Dell because I couldn't find a place to put the $100 discount coupon for the Clié. The guy asked me if the code was (the one posted in this site) and I told him yes.

Then he said people were posting it in sites but the code was only sent to some customers and only works once.

Therefore it won't work for us.

IT WORKED FOR ME
I.M. Anonymous @ 10/9/2001 6:13:31 PM #
except the 760 is on the back order.

It worked for me but says it won't ship until 10/12/01. Did anyone else get a similar ship date?

Done

I.M. Anonymous @ 10/9/2001 6:47:24 PM #
That price is a joke (in a good way of course). Just ordered, took less than 30 seconds. Shipping was free, will receive it tomorrow.

Hey, I used to be in the web coupon business (which is good money!).

Everyone who ordered with one of these coupons a few days ago, such as myself, now has their order "delayed"... even though I bought a CLIE last Friday without the coupon and it got here today AND the CLIE is in stock.

This most likely means this coupon was NOT meant for us. It was probably a coupon made for some customers who were wronged or for a small certain group of people. Most webstores don't really care if it's a $5 off $75 coupon or whatnot, but when it's a coupon that makes them lose profit on purchases, they often care. There was a case a while ago where Buy.com accidently had a $500 off $500 coupon! Hundreds of people used it (such as myself, just to see) and, of course, nobody got their items even though it wasn't the result of a hack or anything. Staples.com also used to have a bunch of coupons and they were "stackable" -- ie, if you ordered $400 worth of stuff, you could use 20 $20 off coupons and get your order free. They actually honored these, although probably because their shipments weren't centralized.

To make things short, you probably won't get the $360 CLIE or anything else with this coupon, although I could be wrong. This is a borderline case, I'd say.

So: Order your cheap CLIE, but don't sell your old Palm just yet...

PS Even if you use overnight shipping, you won't get it tomorrow.. I ordered my first "legit" CLIE on Friday, and got it today (Tuesday).

RE: Hold your horses!
I.M. Anonymous @ 10/10/2001 12:39:55 PM #
Hmmm. $100 off $400 does seem steep, but then again it's 25%. Remember that this is the store that offers 20% discounts on a regular basis. Well, we'll see. Good advice not to ebay your Palm just yet!

My order shows "delayed," shipping expected on Oct. 12. That was the predicted date even when I ordered, so I suspect that just means that Dell has them drop-shipped from Sony and needs time to clear up the order details with Sony. I hope.

RE: Hold your horses!
jeremyf @ 10/10/2001 2:04:00 PM #
My first order said Oct 10th.. I think that's standard for Dell to set shipping dates far ahead (probably the default for custom desktops etc), but my first order never said "delayed".. it still says the 760 is in stock so we'll have to see what's really going on!

Don't dismiss this deal so fast. I ordered a 710c from Dell for $400 (w/a 20% off coupon) in August, and it came just as promised. It took a week and a half or so (backordered), but it came, and it was a great deal. The new one is even better.

ordered a 760c from Dell
RShaye @ 10/11/2001 4:06:35 PM #
I ordered a 760c from Dell with the $100 coupon and it is also "delayed." I have called Dell, but they
told me that the ship date has not changed, and it is still scheduled to ship on the 12th. But the lady
said, "nothing is certain." The only thing that IS certain is the $365 charge on my credit card!
However, I don't mind waiting 1 week or so as long as I can get it for that price. I thought it too
was a great deal, so I printed out my order confirmation which clearly states that I have ordered
a CLIE n760c for $364.95. If they try to back out on the order claiming the coupon was invalid,
can't I just show them the order conformation? Don't they HAVE to honor it? I guess we will have
to wait and see if the order status changes on the 12th, hopefully it will ship. Has anyone actually
received the Clie and has only been charged $365? Also, has the charge appeared on everyone
else's card as well? Thanks!

Back Order

I.M. Anonymous @ 10/10/2001 5:19:24 AM #
I ordered my 760 without the coupon yesterday. Imagine getting this just after ordering. Anyway, when I ordered it was in stock and the sales rep said I should have it in 3 to 5 days (by the 13). Once I got the e-mail and check my order it was on back order. I replied and ask if the coupon could still be used. I'll keep you all posted.

RE: Back Order
jeremyf @ 10/10/2001 2:08:38 PM #
The same thing happened to me; I called/e-mailed Dell and the only thing they said I could do was cancel my order and reorder again.. :(

Read above, though..

Phone customer service

I.M. Anonymous @ 10/10/2001 2:38:53 PM #
Has anyone called Dell customer service to find out if they will really be shipping on the 12th? Sometimes customer service will say more than the website does.

RE: Phone customer service
I.M. Anonymous @ 10/10/2001 3:04:44 PM #
my confirmation email says:

"We estimate that your order should ship on or before 10/15/01. Although we do not anticipate a delay in your order, we occasionally run into unexpected delays
in the manufacturing process. If this should happen, we will notify you and provide a revised estimated ship date."

... guess people do take advantage of such a good deal!!! (feel bad for those who place bid on ebay too)

RE: Phone customer service
I.M. Anonymous @ 10/11/2001 5:29:37 PM #
Are you guys crazy?! Don't be calling Customer Service!! The more you warn them about it, the worse it is. If this coupon thing is acctually an error, let's benefit from it first, then call Dell dumb. If we put our horses behind the wagon, they might chatch up to it and none of us will get it!!!

Pay attention to your email confirmation(of shipment) and only call them after the date on the first email is not met...

Those are my two cents. Anyone dare to disagree?

quake97 @ 10/12/2001 11:04:08 AM #
I just got an email from Dell saying that its been delayed and it'll ship on November 12th! Not sure if I wanna cancel it cause I don't think I can find a similar or better deal.

Although Dell originally estimated my 760's ship date as 10/12, today I was notified that it won't ship until 11/2...?

Hi, I have just been to the site www.bargainpda.com and if you search for the CLIE pricing, you'll find this DELL coupon offer still there, but when you click on it, it opens Dell's coupon and promotions page, but this specific coupon is not there (anymore). But by the price comparison table on ...

http://www.bargainpda.com/price/default.asp?productID=130&brandName=Sony&productName=Clie+PEG%2DN760C&display=priceDetail

... you'll see that this coupon is legit !!!!

Let's still keep our fingers crossed, though.

Dell is an evil bureaucracy and must whither away

I.M. Anonymous @ 10/24/2001 1:48:49 PM #

My subject line was going to be, "Dell sucks eggs," but I was concerned it would be moderated, despite the fact that it is true. Is "whither away" a poetic enough wish for the company's demise?

I ordered a 760C (with the $100 off coupon) from Dell's web site on 10/9. The first shipping date was 10/12. Then it was 11/2. Late last week it changed to 10/25. Today it is now, "Call for latest ETA." It doesn't say what number to call, nor is there any phone number on this page.

So I called 1-800-WWW-DELL and went through their phone mazes (that in their defense, every company has now) for 20 minutes. I finally got hold of a person, who claimed he could not touch my order, that it was "from another division." Apparently he was from the home division and this order was sent to the accessories division.

I'd like to note that I was firm, yet polite. Please and thank yous and such.

He hung up on me anyway.

Someone mentioned to me once that Dell keeps track of customers who give too much lip to their salespeople or customer service people. It seems that this would give another dimension to a customer's call history, eh?

So I decided to call my credit card company and file a complaint against Dell, who still had a "pending" charge on my account, as well as the salesperson who attempted to ignore me, John Carlson x58064.

Currently, I'm on hold with my credit card company while they attempt to contact Dell's customer service.

Buyer beware, indeed.

But the Common Man shouldn't have to take this $h|+.

I agree with above, I have been a loyal Dell customer for years, but recently my admiration for the quality of their services is gone. The service department is not what it used to be.
On the positive side I got my clie 760 last week, I ordered from dell using the cuopon on the web site, and after 3 weeks, it came. lucky ?.
has anybody esle got it ?
