THE DISCOUNT COUPON DOES NOT WORK
Then he said people were posting it in sites but the code was only sent to some customers and only works once.
Therefore it won't work for us.

Hold your horses!
Everyone who ordered with one of these coupons a few days ago, such as myself, now has their order "delayed"... even though I bought a CLIE last Friday without the coupon and it got here today AND the CLIE is in stock.
This most likely means this coupon was NOT meant for us. It was probably a coupon made for some customers who were wronged or for a small certain group of people. Most webstores don't really care if it's a $5 off $75 coupon or whatnot, but when it's a coupon that makes them lose profit on purchases, they often care. There was a case a while ago where Buy.com accidently had a $500 off $500 coupon! Hundreds of people used it (such as myself, just to see) and, of course, nobody got their items even though it wasn't the result of a hack or anything. Staples.com also used to have a bunch of coupons and they were "stackable" -- ie, if you ordered $400 worth of stuff, you could use 20 $20 off coupons and get your order free. They actually honored these, although probably because their shipments weren't centralized.
To make things short, you probably won't get the $360 CLIE or anything else with this coupon, although I could be wrong. This is a borderline case, I'd say.
So: Order your cheap CLIE, but don't sell your old Palm just yet...
PS Even if you use overnight shipping, you won't get it tomorrow.. I ordered my first "legit" CLIE on Friday, and got it today (Tuesday).
RE: Hold your horses!
My order shows "delayed," shipping expected on Oct. 12. That was the predicted date even when I ordered, so I suspect that just means that Dell has them drop-shipped from Sony and needs time to clear up the order details with Sony. I hope.

Don't dismiss this deal so fast. I ordered a 710c from Dell for $400 (w/a 20% off coupon) in August, and it came just as promised. It took a week and a half or so (backordered), but it came, and it was a great deal. The new one is even better.
ordered a 760c from Dell
told me that the ship date has not changed, and it is still scheduled to ship on the 12th. But the lady
said, "nothing is certain." The only thing that IS certain is the $365 charge on my credit card!
However, I don't mind waiting 1 week or so as long as I can get it for that price. I thought it too
was a great deal, so I printed out my order confirmation which clearly states that I have ordered
a CLIE n760c for $364.95. If they try to back out on the order claiming the coupon was invalid,
can't I just show them the order conformation? Don't they HAVE to honor it? I guess we will have
to wait and see if the order status changes on the 12th, hopefully it will ship. Has anyone actually
received the Clie and has only been charged $365? Also, has the charge appeared on everyone
else's card as well? Thanks!

Read above, though..
Phone customer service
RE: Phone customer service
"We estimate that your order should ship on or before 10/15/01. Although we do not anticipate a delay in your order, we occasionally run into unexpected delays
in the manufacturing process. If this should happen, we will notify you and provide a revised estimated ship date."
... guess people do take advantage of such a good deal!!! (feel bad for those who place bid on ebay too)
RE: Phone customer service
Pay attention to your email confirmation(of shipment) and only call them after the date on the first email is not met...
Those are my two cents. Anyone dare to disagree?

... you'll see that this coupon is legit !!!!
Let's still keep our fingers crossed, though.

Dell is an evil bureaucracy and must whither away
My subject line was going to be, "Dell sucks eggs," but I was concerned it would be moderated, despite the fact that it is true. Is "whither away" a poetic enough wish for the company's demise?
I ordered a 760C (with the $100 off coupon) from Dell's web site on 10/9. The first shipping date was 10/12. Then it was 11/2. Late last week it changed to 10/25. Today it is now, "Call for latest ETA." It doesn't say what number to call, nor is there any phone number on this page.
So I called 1-800-WWW-DELL and went through their phone mazes (that in their defense, every company has now) for 20 minutes. I finally got hold of a person, who claimed he could not touch my order, that it was "from another division." Apparently he was from the home division and this order was sent to the accessories division.
I'd like to note that I was firm, yet polite. Please and thank yous and such.
He hung up on me anyway.
Someone mentioned to me once that Dell keeps track of customers who give too much lip to their salespeople or customer service people. It seems that this would give another dimension to a customer's call history, eh?
So I decided to call my credit card company and file a complaint against Dell, who still had a "pending" charge on my account, as well as the salesperson who attempted to ignore me, John Carlson x58064.
Currently, I'm on hold with my credit card company while they attempt to contact Dell's customer service.
Buyer beware, indeed.
But the Common Man shouldn't have to take this $h|+.
