Sony Offers Refurbished Handhelds

Sony is offering refurbished versions of two discontinued models. It is selling the S320 for $150 and the N610C in the metallic purple casing for $320.

These will be available until Sony sells out of them. They are units that have been returned to Sony for one reason or another. Sony has fixed whatever is wrong with them and reinstalled all original software. They have a 90-day parts and labor warranty but technical support is not free.

The S320 is the same as the S360 except that it has 8 MB of RAM instead of 16 MB. It has a 160 by 160 monochrome screen and runs OS 4.0.

The N610C has a 320 by 320 color screen, 8 MB of RAM, and runs OS 4.0. It was recently replaced by the T615C.

Thanks to Mark for the tip. -Ed

That's no deal as I have seen it brand new at CompUSA for $279 AND you can get the T615C for $379 - Rebates.

The 610 was $279 at CompUSA last month after Sony discontinued it and stores were clearing out their inventory. They are all gone now. Try going to a CompUSA now and they'll tell you that item is no longer available. If you wanted one, you should have moved then.

I don't think the T415C is worth $60 more than the N610C. The N610C's screen is better. You can't get any peripherals for the T series yet or a hardcase. All the T615C has is more memory.

$60 for 8MB MORE factory native RAM is no big deal????? I'd pay that in a second for my m505.

Would you pay it if it made your screen worse and meant you couldn't get a case or any peripherals?

I think the T615 is much better than the N610. Much thinner, plays WAV files, vibration, 16 MB of memory, OS 4.1, enhanced infrared, and it is much brighter. True, some colors or not as true as others. A small sacrafice I am willing to make for all of the added features.
