Quickies: Pocket Quicken, m500- and T-series Cases, mSeries PUG

LandWare has released a beta version of the Pocket Quicken conduit for OS X. The new version, 2.01r2b3, fixes all known conduit issues. -David Porfido

SmarterCase has added five colors to their m500-series hardcase line. They are Stars & Stripes, Black Mamba, Dark Brown Lizard, Sahara Lizard, and Winter Navy. -Tim Sullivan

DS International has posted some pictures of the hardcase for the Sony T series it will be releasing on April 20 for $34. -nXt

The m505 Yahoo group has changed its name and widened its focus to be the mSeries Palm User Group that covers the m125, m130, m500, m505, and m515. -Davy

Seems to be the perfect case.

DS seems to have perfected the hardcases except for one thing. its not fliptop like the kensington. its just so hard to holda case the flips sideways. but this case is pretty impressive though. it has all the holes and it looks pretty smooth.

can anyoone compare the sizes and weight from the m505s hardcases like rhino, franklin and innopocket?

Graph, I have the molded aluminum slider for my m515, and let me tell you- its great!! it has to be the big "whoah" factor that i get all the time when i use it out. however the case may look or feel or be, it is very lighweight by itself, but strangely with the case on the unit, its does tend to seem very much heavier-strange huh? but it does provide great protection, and cool looks(if you're into that!)Overall I have to give it a 9.5, only due to the fact that i am not crazy about how the unit is harnessed in the case via thick peices of neoprene, however the new case have all the great new inprovements then its predessor(no more sharp edges)hope this clarifies things a little bit for you.

I went on Ebay yesterday to figure how much worth my one-year old M505.

What astounded me was the fact than about half of the M505 sold there were without cradles, boxes or user guides. We can only guess about their provenance, but it seems pretty obvious to me. I think the burden will be on handheld manufacturers and OS provider to improve the security of units. ( I am not even mentionning sensible data).

BTW, my Palm is still holding his value, more than my cellular phone by example.

If the security on those device is so damn good that no one can crack in it, then me as the owner of the device will be very worried, who knows one day if I forgot my password what should I do ?? call palm support ?? they probably will tell me me their palm device is so damn secure that even they can't break in it. Then again if there is an uniform way to reset the password then what's the use of the password ??

only an idiot forgets his own password when sensitive/important data is concerned. And what good is ANY security that can be cracked AT ALL??!? If all a hacker had to do was call up Palm and say "Duh, I forgot my password, but I need to get my sensitive data back" to get some "back door" into the data, then no one would ever purchase a PalmOS device again. Microsoft would have a fricking field day with *that* kind of news. It's bad enough the built-in security of OS 4.1 and lower is nothing to speak of, and that you need separate software for good encryption. Any software or OS that has back doors into data isn't worth using. And you're worried that you *won't* be able to crack into your data if you lose your password? What are you, 60?

So what you are saying is ppl with bad memory should not use a palm, O well. I thought palm is used for storing data for people who have bad memory. turns out it's the other way around.

The first poster talks about stolen palms, just face it Cell phone makers has been trying to solve this for the longest wtime, turns out there's no good way you can really prevent soemthing from being stolen. You can try to tape the palm device on yourself though.

Most of the security apps I know of protect the data on the handheld but still allow someone to erase it all. Some even do this automatically if the wrong password is entered too many times. While your personal info is safe, your handheld is still up for sale on eBay. I think I remember one that permanently locks the handheld so it can't ever be used without the password, even after a hard reset. I suppose it could be broken up for parts but I doubt many thieves would go to the hassle. At least you'd have a Pyrrhic victory.

I have found that teallock is the best security app. it doesnt forget to ask a password even on resets.

Off topic, Is the m505's screen plastic?

I want to know what the m505s screen is made of. i heard people saying its plastic, some glass. what is the difference between the 2? and is it the same case with the m515s? what models are made of plastics?
