T615 Cases Coming Soon from InnoPocket and Vaja

Vaja T615C Case Many people are nervous about carrying around an expensive handheld without some kind of case to protect it. With Sony's T615C so new, the selection of cases has been weak. However, in the near future that problem may be solved. Both Vaja Cases and InnoPocket are now taking preorders for T615C cases that will be available within a month.

Vaja Cases
The one from Vaja is a leather flip-cover case. It has openings to allow the user to reach all its buttons and the Jog Dial. By flipping back the cover, the Memory Stick slot, stylus, and infrared port are exposed.

The HotSync port isn't covered but the case is too thick to allow the cradle to be used. The user must get a travel cable or use IR to HotSync.

The flip cover contains one large pocket and is held closed with a magnetic clasp.

It will come in four possible schemes: two types of black leather, a brown/green two-tone, and brown.

It will sell for $65 or $70 with a belt clip. It will be available in about three weeks.

InnoPocket T615C Hardcase InnoPocket
Innopocket is taking pre-orders for the Metal Deluxe Case for Clie PEG-T Series, which opens to the right. Its cover can't flip all the way around.

It has cutouts to allow access to the Memory Stick slot, Jog Dial, Stylus, and the HotSync port without removing the handheld from the case.

It has been designed to add very little bulk to the handheld but still offer some protection. It's 4.75 by 3.0 by .70 inches. For comparison, the T615C is 4.65 by 2.83 by .50. It's made of aluminium and has a neoprene lining.

The company says it will be available in early April and will sell for $30.

opens like a book

That metal one is a nice price and shape. It opens like a book. Interesting. I wonder if it will open with one finger (thumb).

Anyone know where to get some more photos of the InnoPocket case? I'd like to see more detail on the cutouts. Also, anyone know if the audio adaptor will connect with the case closed?

I don't know about you, but I can't find any extra info on the innopocket site. Everything there has been stated in the article.

I agree -- the innopocket site has only 1 pic I can find. Also, the pic on Palm InfoCenter shows no hole for the hotsync connector. I guess that they didn't do it on the prototype?

I wish Orbino would make a T615 case

Their m5xx case is the best!

Not all aluminum....

I.M. Anonymous @ 3/13/2002 10:16:23 PM #
The case has an aluminum "lid" w/ a plastic lower assembly. Too flimsy! Make the entire case out of magnesium (lighter and stronger than aluminum) - I'd pay the difference for the better materials :)

Where do you see this.....?

Funny, Innopocket's web site for the T615 case says "100% aluminum". I think you're confused. The DSI case has an aluminum cover with a plasic backing. Maybe you're talking about that?

Where's the glee?

OK, so there are a lot of T615 users posting to this site.

And one of the big complaints about the T615 is the lack of accessories.

So HERE are some accessories. Why no glee from the Sony users? Too caught up in NR-70 envy?

The case looks excellent, especially compared to all the other T625 cases I've seen. Heck, I reckon its even nicer than any cases I've seen for Palm Inc PDAs. Its robust AND sexy: that's a combination we rarely see in anything! The new Sony NR models will have their market, but so will the T's. I would love it if the T-625 had virtual graffiti and 66mhz processing power, but I'll take it as it is. Its still way better than anything else currently available.

Vaja Wallet Case

I'm considering moving from a Palm m505 to a Sony Clie 615. Currently, I use the Vaja wallet case with the Palm m505 which I really like a lot. I wish Vaja would consider making one for the 615 as well.

I found the one that I had purchased for the Palm V/Vx series but cannot locate the same type of wallet case for the Clie.

This case is out there

I got an email today stating the Vaja case is for sale.

Vaja has been sending that message out for days. Their site still says it will be available in 25 days.

Received Innopocket T615 case today

I.M. Anonymous @ 4/24/2002 12:35:16 PM #
Seems like a nice case [my previous experience was with the Rhinoskin aluminum case for my Palm V]. Rhinoskin had nicer finish, but Innopocket locking mechanism stays shut on drop [Rhinoskin popped open].
Unit mounts on left side of case, unit clasped by 3 leaf springs into 3 slots on back of Clie.

Cutouts include:
Bottom: main connector
Top: IR port, memory stick, stylus [top and side]
Left side: 1 opening for 'back' button and jog dial
Right side no openings, just hinge.

Thin rubber padding on inside of both halves of case.

As expected, unit in case will not drop into Clie charging unit. I also bought Innopocket's combo charging and sync USB cable. Nice combination for frequent travelers like me.

Overall pleased with purchase. Not as classy looking as Rhinoskin for Palm V but not near as expensive either. I'd recommend it.

For anyone who already got the innopocket case. Doesn't the case flipping sideways and not up defeat the purpose of one handed use with the jog dial. Seems you couldn't keep a tight grasp of both lid and PDA while operating the jog dial with your thumb. I was considering the case but because of this I still have not gotten it. How do you feel about this? Is the PDA harder to use with this case? I see that all metal cases made so far for the 615 flip sideways. Are there any in the works that flip up? Not leather ones. Thanks
