OmniSky delays wireless rollout

I called OmniSky today to change my shipping address. The Customer Service Rep told me the company had made the decision to delay shipping the OmniSky Wireless Modem for the Palm V until the middle of December.

Ugh...

I asked them if this would happen prior to ordering the unit and they said "no way, no way at all!"

yeah, right. well, at least it's not too long a wait. I just wish they weren't so confident about their plans in the first place.

They told me the same thing when I ordered, "We'll be shipping on the first, no doubt about it." Did they give any reason for the delay? At least I'll be on vacation until "mid-December" (whatever that means) so hopefully they'll ship by the 15th.

I think that we are all going to be very hapilly surprised...The delay will be only 9 business days. And I do think that the beta period will be extended.

OmniSky is interested in providing their products to us, not building products for themselves like that OTHER company with the new Palm hardware ;-)
