Sorry Anonymous, but I think YOU did not read. There is nothing about an update an faxing capabilities. But I guess Iambic does have other things to do now -)

no update to FastWriter needed, all you need is InStep's printing/faxing software

"The Singapore Palm Users Group's previous domain was unscrupulously cyber-squatted on them and they have moved to SPUG.net. -darkness"

Apparently, they forget to renew the domain resulting it from being snatched away from their very hand.

Hope this does not happen to SPUG.net in future.

Yesh, I do hope so. However, how in the first place they forget the continuation of the domain address.

Ronnie - SPUG president explains in the forum.

Hmmm.... I thought this was stated right up front in one of the threads. I must be mistaken, it could have been in my email.

Ok. For all your curious ones out there, here's what I knewof this unfortunate event. (May not be 100% accurate though...)

Firstly, the domain SPUG.org is not owned by me (contrary to popular belief) but carried forward from ancient times. *grin* The sponsorship of the domain was kindly offered by the domain owner.

The domain owner apparently was sent a renewal notice, but due to an unfortunate turn of event (personal and not convenient to disclose in a public forum), he did NOT receive it. And when it finally got to our attention the domain expiry, his attempt to renew it was rejected. Apprarently the back-order thingy had taken place (meaning our domain had expired) and the original owner was not permitted to renew it anymore.

Now, for actions after. When we were informed of the new domain owner (or rather via our constant whois search and attempts to contact the registrar), I personally tried all known means of communication with them (emails, calls, even dispatch a friend in HK to try and reach them) to explain the situation to them and request if they could consider selling the domain back to us, with us paying them for all the admin fees incurred and a little bit more.

However, all attempts were futile. Emails, calls and faxes were not acknowledged nor replied. My friend also tried calling and emailing but did not get any better. Last alternative is to physically drop by their office. I decided against it.

Better choice of action would be to quicly establish an alternative URL and deny them the eyeball.

So here's the story from what little I know.

Hope this answers the question marks in all our little minds... 8-)
