was a "palm graveyard" entry. what is that anyway?
This game is great and should be released VERY soon: www.redshift.hu Roman Pedan Palm V/Vx Will get a Palm OS 5 handheld (I fixed the link -Ryan)
To put it mildly, apparently MasterThief has serious display problems on a Clie (320x320). I don't mean that it (just) fails to use the extra real estate; I mean that it totally screws up the display. :-( RE: MasterThief display problems on Clie
> MasterThief has serious display problems on a Clie (320x320). the current version of MT3D doesn't detect the sony units and switch correctly into a pixel double compatibility mode - especially if you have enabled the high resolution assist manager. there wont be support for hires on the Clie models, and, this is mainly due to the lack of processing power on these units. MT3D 1.1 is available internally, and, some Clie options have been 'fixed', we are very close to building the final 1.1 version which will, bring the long awaited T|T support - yes, native ARM code boasting 30-40 frames/second. we have been holding off the 1.1 release until T|T support is 100% - so, hang in there. RE: MasterThief display problems on Clie
Lack of processing power? My old 33 MHz Clie was as fast as (if not faster than) my Handspring Visor Prism; my current 66 MHz Clie (T665C) is twice as fast as that! Lacking hi-res support, why not just do pixel doubling? Also, what do you mean by "...especially if you have enabled the high resolution assist manager"? Either it works or it doesn't, right? (By "especially" you seem to imply degrees of working/failure.) Thanks for the fast reponse! RE: MasterThief display problems on Clie
> Lacking hi-res support, why not just do pixel doubling? we do in 1.1 :) thats what i was trying to tell you *g* we didn't have the Clie specific code in place with the 1.0 code (i dont know why it didn't make it) so that we could ignore the high res assist applications settings - look at lemmings for example, you dont get the double image at the top :) somehow, that code snuck out in 1.0 :) its back in with 1.1 RE: MasterThief display problems on ClieChipKerchner @ 12/13/2002 9:09:11 AM #

Either it works or it doesn't, right? (By "especially" you seem to imply degrees of working/failure.) Aaron means that if you turn off hi-res assist manager specifically for Master Thief, the game should run fine in 160x160 mode. Yes, even a 66 MHZ 68K "may" not have the processing power to do "true" hi-res. 320x320 requires almost 4 times the CPU than 160x160 (plus we've added a few other option for the ARM/OS5 version to take advantage of the available excess speed). Look for the ULTRA mode version (320x320, plus super quality plus...) of the game running native ARM for the T|T and such shortly. RE: MasterThief display problems on Clie
I see. Thanks! My comment about performance was based on the perception that other hi-res programs seem to run as fast at 33 MHz as do 160x160 applications -- which is also consistent with reviews/articles I've read about the special dedicated graphics processing capabilities of the Clies (added specifically so 320x320 apps would run just as fast on Clies as 160x160 apps do on other 68k Palms). But I can understand how it might be different if every pixel had to be individually calculated. Also, reading the help screen for Hi-Res Assist led me to believe that it helps only with fonts (not with graphics). And turning it off hadn't helped in the past with (many) other games, so I didn't try that this time. I'm glad to hear that it should indeed help with this game, and also that 1.1 will be fine on the Clie at pixel-doubled 160x160. Thanks again to both of you! RE: MasterThief display problems on Clie
Yup. Same as on T|T. More frames per second than your eyes can process.. *g*

Monsta is by far one of the best games out for the PalmOS! Not only does it look great, the gameplay is excellent! Score one for iNDUSTRY!
Just wondering, is MONSTA a Bomberman-like game? From the screenshots and description I got the impression it is - if so, that would be very cool, I love that kind of game. RE: MONSTA question
I guess it has a few similarities to BomberMan, but the gameplay is unique and very polished. Think BomberMan, Chess, and Duke Nukem's little brother. First new game in a while that has really caught and held my attention. Only defect so far is that it breaks one of the primary rules for a Palm game: If you exit the game you lose your place and have to start over. It may be a demo only problem though... RE: MONSTA question
It's just like that in demo version. In full version, which have 50 levels, if you quit the game while playing, your current position will be saved so when you start MONSTA next time you'll be right where you stopped before. Yes, purchasing the full version fill fix the not saving on exit, and much more :) RE: MONSTA question
Thanks for the info, that gets rid of any gameplay issues. Even demo is more fun than the full version of many other games. Do you have a version of the game where Joe's comments are "G" rated, or where they could be turned off? I have six kids and it may be difficult to explain to them words I don't use :) RE: MONSTA question
No, there's no special version without *G* words [if *G* words are the words I think you think they are ;) ] but I could provide you with version which excludes Joe's comments with nasty words :) Just contact me after purchasing MONSTA. Nemanja Bondzulic MONSTA creator http://www.indus3.org/monsta

Surely one of the very best gaming options on the Palm OS is the rather excellent Liberty GameBoy emulator - but when can we see an update? Come on guys! The moment you release an update which runs on my hi-res Sony Clie T665C screen and with support for playing games from Memory Stick etc, etc - I'll register! I thought it was promised for September 10th? RE: New version of Liberty ?!
I finally got the updated code from Aaron, and as soon as we iron out a few bugs we will release it. Aaron's in France this week, so I don't know if we'll get it this week or not. :( (Your current Sony will run Liberty - just turn off Hires assist) About the memory stick - beg Aaron to add the support, please! Oh, and thanks for the kind words! RE: New version of Liberty ?!
> I use piDirect to run roms off my sd card :) works fine
this only works if you have a 68k based unit :) for the T|T or NX users - your out of luck :( so, its on my to-do list (new years resolution?) :P to provide VFS support directly from /Palm/Launcher
