Eh... that always was an ugly PDA. I've always been surprised it was a SONY product. RE: Eh...
Bah! I strongly disagree! The SJ series is quite attractive, IMO. The SL10 isn't really, though. --Devan-- | UZI4U182@suscom.net www.devanstavern.tk www.devandeshong.tk Current PDA: Sony CLIÉ PEG-SJ30 RE: Eh...
I disagree with that too. I think the SL10 looks more attractive than the m100 series. ------------------------------------------------------- currently using Palm m125 and waiting for Garmin iQue. RE: Eh...
Hey, the m130 looks very good...

I just bought the SJ33 for my fiancee a few days ago and I'm fairly happy with it. This SJ22 would have been ideal for her but she didn't like the monochrome display because she has been using my NX for quite some time (playing too much monopoly). I forced her to get her own and made her pick whatever Clie model she wanted and also showed her the SJ22 which didn't impress her, anyhow, its a good thing she didn't ask for the NZ or I would have to buy one for myself!
RE: Its a good thing I bought the SJ-33
>>This SJ22 would have been ideal for her but she didn't like the monochrome display >>I forced her to get her own and made her pick whatever Clie model she wanted and also showed her the SJ22 I assume you must mean SJ20 - the SJ22 isn't in stores yet and - as it says above - has a color screen. I stand corrected =]
Am I right in assuming that there is really no real difference between this model and the SJ33? It seems like Sony's just offering this one at a lower price than the SJ33... Is there a difference in the dimensions, or is this just really weird? RE: Umm... SJ33 Deja Vu?
The SJ33 has an mp3 player DSP built-in, while it appears the SJ22 does not. Sony appears to be innovating by subtracting numbers on the label: T665C -> SJ33 It's all about product positioning. RE: Umm... SJ33 Deja Vu?
There's no difference between this model and the SJ30, not the SJ33. The SJ33 also has a big cosmetic change and has a hard flip cover. --Devan-- | UZI4U182@suscom.net www.devanstavern.tk www.devandeshong.tk Current PDA: Sony CLIÉ PEG-SJ30 RE: Umm... SJ33 Deja Vu?
Well, it doesn't have the bumb on the back from the SL10/SJ20/SJ30. That could be nice, as it is thinner; it looks like it's just the width of the SJ30 at the top all the way down. ---------------- Sulla has Spoken RE: Umm... SJ33 Deja Vu?
Hmm, the first two threads on this topic were both posted with the names of models being confused with other models...should Sony have really renamed the models so close in value? I mean, some people are gonna look at the SJ20 and the SJ22 and get really confused.

1) SJ22 will come with a cradle during pre-order 2) SJ22 has built-in Kinoma Player.... RE: 2 differences between SJ30 and SJ22
So you are saying that the only difference is that if you pay less, you get a cradle and Kinoma? RE: 2 differences between SJ30 and SJ22
I also heard that the SJ22 doesn't come with Docs to Go. --Devan-- | UZI4U182@suscom.net www.devanstavern.tk www.devandeshong.tk Current PDA: Sony CLIÉ PEG-SJ30 RE: 2 differences between SJ30 and SJ22i2oadi2unnei2 @ 3/7/2003 3:20:49 PM #
I don't see a cradle on Sony's site for the SJ33 which is a bit disappointing because the SJ22 did get one... oh well...
RE: 2 differences between SJ30 and SJ22
Quote: "I don't see a cradle on Sony's site for the SJ33 which is a bit disappointing because the SJ22 did get one... oh well..." Well, what do you expect for an extra $100, a cradle? Sheesh... RE: 2 differences between SJ30 and SJ22
if you read the specs carefully, you will be able to notice a difference that, in SJ22, it says it has a USB connector, while in SJ30, it says it has a USB connector bracketed hotsync port. most probably then is that SJ22 features a mini-USB port like the SJ10 and support PTP USB peripherals... RE: 2 differences between SJ30 and SJ22
By "PTP" (point-to-point?) peripherals, do you mean direct connections between two devices? Why would the SJ22 need special support for that? Wouldn't it be better to give it an actual USB controller connector so that it can actually drive arbitrary USB devices, not just the measly few that know about this new standard? And is there any indication that the SJ22 even knows how to talk to other devices? (The use of "PTP" with USB is confusing because PTP also stands for "Picture Transfer Protocol", a standard way of transfering images over USB, and something that would also make a lot of sense for this device.) RE: 2 differences between SJ30 and SJ22
For that PTP i mean point-to-point. Just got a question - can two master USB controllers connect together...? I am not sure about that... Remember the USB controller inside CLIE serves for 2 purposes...for both USB hotsync and these new PTP peripherals... Maybe that's the reason why...just a guess anyway... RE: 2 differences between SJ30 and SJ22
make thing clear a little bit... it comes with cradle during pre-order period.... RE: 2 differences between SJ30 and SJ22
"I also heard that the SJ22 doesn't come with Docs to Go." Now that's upsetting. RE: 2 differences between SJ30 and SJ22

It's says in the article that the sj22 doesn't have an mp3 player, but u can use a "separate audio player".. anyone know what that is? RE: separate audio adapter?
It's a $130 adapter that clips onto the bottom of the Clie; it's called the PEGA-SA10. Here's the address: http://makeashorterlink.com/?J58D33AB3 . I don't know any more than that, but it seems expensive. RE: separate audio adapter?
For those OS4 CLIes that have built-in MP3 playback capability, there's a DSP (digital signal processing) chip fitted inside the CLIe itself. This is because the CPU itself is far from be able to do the decoding of MP3 files and you need a dedicated processor for doing the job. This, however, has the advantage of off-loading these heavy duties from the CPU itself. And for those CLIes without native MP3 playback capability, you need to buy this audio adapter thing, which features a DSP inside the remote, for the decoding of the MP3 files...
If it is practically the same as the SJ30, then why bother to make it at all. Just keep selling the SJ30.
Other than what it comes with, are there any real differences? Maybe there's some invisible improvements that we don't know about. For instance, my friend's SJ30 had it's power button break over and over again. Maybe it's full of those type of fixes. Rolando
